Your responsibilitiesthyssenkrupp Elevator Americas is currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer II in Middleton, TN. This role will research, design and develop optimal, cost-effective processes and methods in accordance with specifications and quality standards using LEAN principles. Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Research, design and develop optimal, cost-effective processes and methods in accordance with specifications and quality standards using LEAN principles

  • Support SQDC and participate in Rapid Improvement Events

  • Prepare facility layouts as needed

  • Provide technical support/solutions to manufacturing processes

  • Conduct time studies of production to develop standard work for production cells and to create and maintain SOPs

  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) for new and improved products

  • Manage moderate to large capital projects including writing capital requests and installation of new equipment

  • Monitor quality discrepancies, identify trends and investigate quality problems and implement corrective actions

  • Develop and maintain SOP's and Standard Work for assigned operations

  • Interfaces with Product Engineering, Logistics, Operations and vendor

  • Performs work that varies in difficulty while applying fundamental concepts, practices and procedures under supervision with limited responsibility

  • Order tooling and fixtures needed in assigned department

  • Resolve quality issues including field complaints, warranty issues and defective parts

  • Work with Procurement to conduct make/buy analysis for all new parts

  • Prepare cost estimates for Accounting

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Your profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field is required

  • Three or more years' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required

  • Knowledge of fabrication and machining required

  • Demonstrated effective decision making skills are required

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others required

  • Must possess strong effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required

  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of high mix/volume manufacturing methods, procedures and cost-reduction techniques using Lean manufacturing tools: including 6S, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Pull Systems, Cellular Manufacturing and Kaizen events

  • Requires less than 10% travel

This role provides systemic and analytical support to improve the quality performance of thyssenkrupp products. Essential duties and responsibilities: * Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards * Develop and visually analyze test procedures through handling and operating test equipment * Work with the Purchasing Department and Supplier Quality Engineer on qualifications of new suppliers and supplier quality improvement * Plan and conduct tests and experiments to improve products and processes * Provide statistical analysis on the performance of new and existing designs and processes * Perform root cause analysis on field and factory failures * Monitor failure trends on in-house and field failures which involve working in plant and at field job sites * Work with suppliers in solving problems * Work with plant engineering personnel to develop process control procedures * Support the APQP process * Audit supplier products, manufacturing processes, and quality systems and recommend improvements * Support external audits conducted by various certifying bodies ISO, ETL, UL etc * Perform special projects and other duties as assigned Your profile * Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science or in a relevant field of study with equivalent experience is required * ASQ, CQE or equivalent certifications are required * One to eight years' quality engineering experience is required * Must have a working knowledge and experience in ISO process * Must possess excellent customer service skills * Must possess strong decision making abilities * Must work well with others with cross functional team members at all levels * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written to all levels within the company * Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) * Must be able to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOP to perform the functions of the job * Must understand data analysis applications * Requires less than 10% travel * Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions IND123 Our offer to you Safety at work & Healthcare Safety at work & Healthcare: Highest standards in occupational safety and health, comprehensive programs and measures for safety at work and preventive healthcare with comprehensive coverage and flexible options.
