Manufacturing Engineer II

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Lead Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, this position will be responsible for the continuous improvement of our safety, quality, delivery, and cost through the elimination of waste from our production processes, launching new products/processes into operations, and by educating and empowering our production staff.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

  • Investigates cutting edge technology and equipment to improve process safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Works with vendors to spec out equipment to meet G&W manufacturing needs and builds necessary business case to justify purchase.

  • Uses 3D modeling to design fixtures to solve ergonomic issues, improve takt times, and improve product quality.

  • Participates in new product design reviews to provide feedback on DFMEA, PFMEA, and other assembly considerations.

  • Supports implementation of new products and product lines from prototype to launch through design of fixturing, creation of cell layout, purchasing of equipment, documentation and training.

  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.

  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.

  • Conducts/leads or participates in Process Mapping, FMEA, Kaizans and 8 Step Problem Solving, Quality Control Plan development, DFM, initiatives to promote and ensure that processes are continuously improved

  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.

  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Uses data to identify and address problems

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or related Engineering field

  • 3-8 years experience working in manufacturing environment.

  • Computer proficient; confident with data analysis programs

  • Problem solving skills with experience using root cause analysis techniques

  • 3D CAD experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six sigma, Red X, or other problem-solving certification

  • Experience with implementing lean manufacturing in an organization

  • 2D CAD experience for layouts
