The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for delivering a predictable flow of quality product at rate. The engineers will oversee the overall manufacturing flow and development of the processes to ensure quality products that meet both the customer and IEC's standards and expectations. Process engineers routinely interface with the customer, program manager, manufacturing leads and operators as well as upper management to accomplish the tasks necessary to meet the goals. The engineer supports the manufacturing process from quoting, product development and customer support for his/her products/customers. This importantly, the engineer is the primary technical contact for the customer with IEC, and assures customer satisfaction through required data, reports and corrective action.
Ability to apply DFM principles to perform analysis of new and existing customer, as well as internal assembly designs, and submit modification recommendations to the appropriate customer.
Develop manufacturing process for new products. Ability to develop and define manufacturing process, including process layout and concepts.
Able to seek, recognize, define and solve problems/opportunities within the Factory.
Define need for new processes and/or capital equipment required to produce assembly.
Proficient understanding of manufacturing process controls and the statistical applications associated.
Develop and document manufacturing procedure through the writing of process details. Maintain revision updates
Ability to review Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and provide feedback on labor and process impact of change.
Daily/weekly product problem solving with CFFM, cell lead, mfg technician
o From weekly defect data
o Customer returns
o Daily issues
Assist in quoting efforts through labor, tooling and testing details.
Using COQ data, reduce total cost of manufacturing products.
Process training of engineering technicians, cell leads and operators.
Proactively questions specific technical requests from the customer, ensuring feasibility and ultimate mutual success
Providing required customer data
o Weekly/monthly/quarterly data reports flow through ME
o NPI product status
o Answers customer use issues/defects in customer manufacturing
o Overseer of CAR prior to submitting to customer
o QBR meeting preparation and reporting
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Minimum Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a similar position, or a combination of experience and education
Ability to create and maintain positive working relationship with customers.
Reading and Comprehending Customer Documentation
Industry standards (MIL-STD, IPC, ISO, etc)
Product knowledge basics of design/end use application/component application
Skilled at working with vendors/contractors of equipment for new products and to develop new processes.
Technical skill with component suppliers
6 sigma process knowledgeable/skilled at application of statistics
Statistical process control proficiency.
Ability to work independently on several projects in a fast paced
Excellent verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills required.
Communicate well with program management and customers.
Basic Must have the ability to learn company ERP software to extract required material and labor data to complete requested analysis of processes.
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite
