Business Need / Purpose of Role

Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant.

Objectives & Measurement

  • Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods

  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow; designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency

  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods

  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications; arranges for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts; evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards

  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions

  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes

  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential

  • Establishes and maintains Lean practices, including continuous improvement projects

Job Knowledge / Education and QualificationsEducation/Experience:Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or equivalent combination of education and experience (five to seven years equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment). Language:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical

Skills:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. Other Skills/Abilities:Machining experience will be essential for this position, particularly in the area of setup reduction. Reasoning Ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills;The incumbent should have knowledge of the following software: Database software; Development software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Position Requirements: Contributing to the successful completion of major projects that support difficult technical objectives, the Manufacturing Engineer II utilizes manufacturing technical principles, theories and concepts to apply manufacturing technology on existing or advanced designs, concepts, processes, systems and tools. Working under general supervision, the individual follows established processes in execution of the scope of work as part of a team. The individual is obtaining unique Manufacturing Engineering knowledge in specialty and advanced manufacturing technical areas. * Able to effectively identify and report potential safety and quality hazards/risks. * Able to develop scope of work, resource estimates, progress metrics, and communication cadence for overall project management to meet objectives. * Able to perform producibility analysis and manufacturing trade studies to determine cost effective solutions to complex manufacturing technical objectives. * Works through a disciplined approach in initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing tasks to achieve specific goals to specific success criteria. * Work and deliverables reviewed and checked through supervision for technical soundness to adequately meet objectives. * Shares manufacturing technology with team mates and colleagues. * Intermediate knowledge in a manufacturing technology to include, but not limited to the following: * Aero-structure – Airframe design of metallic, non-metallic, machining, cutting tool, additive part fabrication and assembly manufacturing processes, equipment, tool integration, and product verification. * Electrical and Mechanical Systems – design, integration and installation manufacturing processes, tool integration, equipment, and product verification. * Tail, Main and Prop Rotor Blade Systems - design of metallic, non-metallic, machining, cutting tool, additive part fabrication and bonded assembly manufacturing processes, tool integration, equipment, and product verification. * Manufacturing Execution Systems - process specifications, CAD/CAM; production planning, material requirements scheduling, and material kitting and handling. * Tool and Equipment Integration – Facility requirements, ergonomics, safety, environmental, automation, robotics, metrology, tool & die fabrication, tool design methodology, determinant tooling & fixtures, loft practices, flat patterning, numerical controlled programing of equipment, tool cutting/addition technology applied to the fabrication and assembly of vertical lift systems. * Able to apply engineering design and analysis knowledge to evaluate discrepancies and anomalies.
