Manufacturing Engineer I

Under supervision perform a variety of engineering work in planning and design of tools, equipment, machinery, processes, etc. and oversee the installation, operation, maintenance of such equipment, etc. Implement changes, alterations, modifications and repair based on engineering project requests, etc. Perform process validations and qualify vendors, suppliers, components, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under immediate supervision implement changes, alterations, modifications and repair based on engineering project requests, etc.

  • Perform a variety of engineering work in the planning and design of tools, equipment, processes, machinery, facilities, etc. and oversee the installation, operating, maintenance, etc. of such work in accordance with company policies, procedures, applicable laws, regulations.

  • Perform process validation and qualify vendors, suppliers, components, items, parts, etc.

  • Interface with inside and outside contacts to complete assignments, resolve problems.

  • Make reports, maintain files, lists, logs, etc. and complete assignments, resolve problems.

  • Perform other related functions as required by management.


  • One to three years in a manufacturing engineering environment.

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent.

The Field Engineer (FE) will support the Command and Control Switching System (CCSS) program. The CCSS program provides direct support to Department of Defense (DoD) secure telephone switching system that is part of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN). CCSS also provides support to the E4B program a key component of the National Military Command System for the President, the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. A successful candidate will be self-confident and resourceful; maintain a high energy level with the ability to fit dynamically into a diverse team. Responsibilities include the following: * Provide on and off-site system support services worldwide * Perform services related to operation, repair, maintenance, installation, logistics support, integration and upgrades of customer equipment * Perform analysis, debugging, and assist development of corrective actions to system problems * As required, interface with technical subject-matter experts, use defined processes and techniques to accurately assess system performance * Contribute to technical documentation, customer briefings, technical presentations * Up to 70% travel to off-site locations for field integration and testing as required Required Skills * Existing Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret * Achieve DoD 8570 IA Technical (IAT) Level II Certification within 90 days of start of employment * Basic knowledge of electronics, low voltage and common input power * Theory of operations of common communications systems and basic troubleshooting skills * 2+ years' experience installing, grounding, bonding electronic equipment and enclosures * Familiar with the operation and installation of Internet Protocol (IP) switches and routers * Knowledge of cable producing equipment and specialty tools (i.e. MILSpec, Stewart, Crimping) * Intermediate knowledge of fabrication and installation of common, intricate and complex copper wire and fiber-optic cables * Experience with various digital multi-meters and fiber-optic detection and measuring equipment * Understand Emissions Security (EMSEC) standards related to RED/Black installations * Understand and practice Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) safety standards * Familiar with common document and spreadsheet editing software * Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or with a group to complete assignments Desired Skills * Current Top Secret security clearance and/or TSSCI * Current DoD 8570 IA Technical (IAT) Level II certification * Current BICSI installer certification (INSTC, INSTF, TECH) * Experience with Raytheon proprietary digital switching system product line * Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software to include Visio and OneNote * Experience reading, interpreting and executing statements of work, drawing packages, wiring diagrams, floor plans, technical documentation, directives and standards * Experience planning and accomplishing local customer site installation of electrical equipment * Skilled with Wind River vxWorks embedded operating systems * Competent in performing Software and Firmware upgrades on Windows, Linux, and VxWorks * Familiar with government voice, dedicated and bulk encryption devices * Knowledge of DISA's Promina Network and Juniper IP communications equipment * Current or achieve Class 3 solder certification (J-STD-001 Rev F) within 90 days of employment * Familiar with AC No: 43.13-1B; Acceptable Methods and Practices Aircraft Inspection and Repair, specifically Chapter 11 Aircraft Electrical Systems * Familiar with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) aircraft modification approval processes * Familiar with aircraft avionics and general maintenance technology and practices (A&P) Required Education Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related technical area of study and 2 years of experience.
