Position Overview The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design of production machinery and providing solutions to production challenges related to materials, processes, and tooling. Key Responsibilities Ensure that new and existing processes prioritize employee safety, ergonomic design, and compliance with OSHA regulations.
Drive continuous improvement in products and processes to meet or exceed customer expectations. Develop quality assurance systems and methodologies, including in-process controls, FMEA, SPC, Process Capability Analysis, and DOE. Ensure that processes optimize resource use and comply with environmental regulations.
Act as the manufacturing representative on product development projects, leading all manufacturing aspects during planning and implementation. Key duties include process definition, capability analysis, tool and gauge development and acquisition, work instruction creation, special process training for shop personnel, capital equipment procurement, influencing design for manufacturability and assembly, cost estimation, workstation design, floor layout planning, process routing, and standardizing tooling. Lead, develop, evaluate, and enhance manufacturing methods to align with company objectives.
Collaborate with production staff, supervisors, and materials management to implement lean manufacturing principles. Manage and coordinate capital equipment acquisition and enhancement projects. Analyze and optimize facility usage by recommending modifications or additions to the physical plant, floor space design, and placement of machines and equipment to support manufacturing goals.
Collaborate with design engineering, purchasing, and suppliers on product design, tooling, and procurement of materials, parts, and equipment. Work with production leadership and shop teams on process enhancements. Identify opportunities for automation in the manufacturing environment, including designing, building, and implementing small automation projects internally.
Larger projects may involve collaboration with external vendors, where you will lead the initiative, train staff, and serve as the onsite expert. Contribute to the development of production metrics, such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Total Effective Equipment Performance (TEEP). Support lean initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency throughout the organization. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
At least 7 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting. Experience in project management. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels.
Proven leadership capabilities, both direct and indirect. Ability to understand and apply the company’s vision at a detailed level.
