Job Description

Provides technical support for the manufacturing engineering support function.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Provides technical support and pertinent information to plants, licensees, joint ventures, customers, and engineering in application of materials, chemical process, and mechanical technology. Participates in installation, troubleshooting, failure investigations, and corrective action of material, process, and mechanical problems.

  • Prepares cost estimates and submittals.

  • Plans and performs development projects for materials and mechanical improvements. Develops objectives, project criteria and budgets. Initiates and evaluates actions to meet agreed objectives and criteria.

  • Investigates, originates, and implements improvements for the container manufacturing process for the purpose of increased production, reduced product cost, and improved quality.

  • Maintains an awareness of technical progress in materials, supports areas, and production equipment. Initiates technical meetings to review problems and seek improvements.

  • Implements programs to introduce and qualify new materials, products, processes, and/or equipment in plants and with our customers. Originates test packs, and leads acceptance tests and evaluations through various lab services.

  • Develops and participates in technical liaison with customers and suppliers to improve products, processes, and equipment.

  • Provides liaison and technical support to other disciplines: manufacturing, project, container, and closure engineering, sales & marketing, quality assurance, EH&S, and sourcing.

  • Originates specifications for equipment, materials, and processes to support manufacturing or marketing needs.

  • Maintains awareness and complies with all environmental management requirements.

  • Participates in project implementation, installation, check-out, tune-up and start-up of new equipment.

  • Participates in the audit, rebuild, and troubleshooting of existing equipment.

  • 60% travel.

What are we looking for?

  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college level education or work-related experience

  • Job related experience for 5 year(s) minimum

  • Ability to perform mathematical and engineering calculations.

  • Ability to input, retrieve, and organize information via computers and software programs.

  • Ability to apply standard evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

Seeking a hands on Mechanic, Engineer or Technician that is comfortable working in a fast paced, production environment. We are seeking someone that is mechanically inclined, turns wrenches and not afraid to get their hands dirty.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hiring Salary Range: $ 67,700 - 101,500 (Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)

  • Job Grade - 10

  • Other Compensation: This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

The Manufacturing Sr. Engineer II - CNC Milling Machines & Lathes is responsible for providing manufacturing engineering services to support efficient manufacturing processes. Engineering services may include process development, design for manufacturing, project management, process validation, tool design, and troubleshooting. Principal Duties and Responsibilities * Developing, leading, and executing project plans and schedules for work activities * Communicating (written and verbal) direction and project plans with appropriate personnel from other departments * Evaluating multiple options to select the most appropriate processes and machining methods * Creating, maintaining, and improving controlled technical documents such as prints, procedures, bill of materials and routers through design and engineering control systems. * Developing and supporting a wide variety of processing applications such as machining, finishing, forging, casting, cleaning, coating, heat treating, bonding, molding, etc * Conducting feasibility study on advanced processes to estimate product cost and analyze capital equipment, capacity, and capability requirements * Establishing and improving process methods which meet performance and quality requirements * Leading equipment qualification or process validation project(s) * Solving a variety of complex product and/or process performance issue * Developing rationale to set new process performance and quality standards Expected Areas of Competence * Sound understanding of concepts and principles for manufacturing and new product processing and a basic knowledge of these elements in areas such as Quality, Development, or Sourcing. * Working knowledge of component models in Solidworks * Full working knowledge of all supporting department needs and capabilities, including the ability to discern when inaccurate information is supplied and offer ideas for how to correct it. * Extensive knowledge of mechanisms required to implement processes and manage product flow * Full working knowledge of the development process and procedures. * Competence with drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing * Ability to balance marketing, manufacturing, and design requirements to meet customer requirements * Ability to lead and prioritize complex projects assignments and complete work in a timely manner * Good problem solving skills through the use of quality and statistical tools * Ability to effectively work and communicate within a cross-functional team to complete critical project tasks. * Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills. * Microsoft Office Suite and Project. * Minitab knowledge is preferred Zimmer Biomet Westminster CO
