As a Manufacturing Engineer SMT Line- PCB, you will provide guidance and support for solving complex technical problems that arise in a PCBA fabrication manufacturing environment specifically supporting the SMT lines in the PCA area. The SMT line has equipment that consists of solder paste printing, solder paste inspection, pick and place, reflow oven, and automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment. The optimal candidate will have experience with SMT equipment, a willingness and ability to learn, great attention to detail, and a drive for continuous improvement.

The skills that are gained from working in a manufacturing capacity can be applied to almost every role later in a career. The individual will be working with a highly experienced team of technical experts both in manufacturing and technology engineering.

The position requires individuals to be on-site so they can work with the manufacturing floor supervisors, technicians, and operators in supporting the manufacturing operations. Potential second shift coverage 2:30pm

  • 11:00pm. Initial training will be 3-6 months with day shift engineering prior to any sole second shift coverage.

As a Manufacturing Engineer

  • SMT Line

  • PCB, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining manufacturing production of the main SMT lines ensuring the process is producing circuit card assemblies with minimal downtime to production. This includes but is not limited to, troubleshooting machine issues, and providing support to the SMT and setup teams as needed.

  • Creating and implementing programs, profiles, tooling and streamlining the SMT production process in a medium to high-mixed complex PCBA environment.

  • Identifying the root cause of yield/ quality issues and work with internal design/ application groups as well as vendors to develop corrective actions.

  • Working along operators and supervisors in the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, and procedures.

  • Ensuring the process is producing circuit card assemblies with minimal downtime to production.

  • Providing technical guidance for manufacturing processes to support sustaining activities as well as continuous process improvement including automation and implementation of lean principles.

  • Understanding and incorporating manufacturing principles of OEE, tact-time, cycle time, and value stream mapping to support and improve existing manufacturing work cell areas.

  • Developing a yearly operational plan to define capital expenditures to support manufacturing activities and projects.

  • Sharing practical technical knowledge with your team to guide, advise, and enable solutions to problems.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Have a bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, mechatronics, or electrical engineering.

  • Have Experience in mechanical engineering design, development, and application; including university project and classroom work.

  • Have Experience / knowledge of CAD design and implementation

  • Have Knowledge of basic mechanical elements and a desire to learn and develop these.

  • Be able to demonstrate ability to analyze problems from data and identify root causes and efficient solutions.

  • Be able to clearly communicate ideas/requirements using a combination of CAD, oral, and written instruction

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience creating solid models and detailed drawings using Siemens NX12

  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standard

  • Familiarity with design and function of Bently Nevada proximity probes

  • Experience using SAP PLM system including product structure/BOMs

  • Experience reviewing, initiating, and implementing design changes using an ECM system

  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and problem solving

  • Familiarity with tool room machining capabilities and practices

  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas/requirements using a combination of CAD, oral, and written instruction
