As a Manufacturing Engineer
This position reports to
Production Development Manager
Your responsibilities
Work with cross-functional teams to identify lean automation opportunities and develop project plans.
Design, develop, and deploy automation solutions using lean quick change methods, industry-standard tools and technologies.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and define automation objectives.
Analyze existing processes and systems to identify areas for waste elimination, throughput improvement and automation.
Develop and execute test plans to ensure the accuracy and reliability of automation solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automated systems, software, and equipment.
Document automation processes, including system architecture, workflows, safety procedures, and user manuals.
Train end-users on the operation and maintenance of automated systems.
Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in lean methods and automation engineering.
Your background
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, computer science, or a related field with 2 plus years of experience as an automation engineer in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience as an automation engineer or similar role.
Strong knowledge of automation tools and technologies, such as robotic process automation (RPA), industrial control systems (ICS), or programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
Demonstrate experience in application of lean automation (SMED, 5S, waste elimination, etc…)
Experience with process analysis, system integration, and workflow optimization.
Familiarity with database systems and data manipulation.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
Professional certifications in automation engineering or related areas preferred
Robotics experience a plus
Limited local travel may be included
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
