The SPS Manufacturing Engineering position is a completely "hands-on" role that will bring a high level of proactive initiative, energy and accountability to effect maximum product throughput and optimum resource efficiency for military products. We are looking for an individual who will setup and sustain a new manufacturing process line by leveraging the latest technology, including the strategic use of automation, 3-D printing and robotics while building improvement opportunities and applying simpler, faster, cost effective and reliable production methods using lean manufacturing methodologies.

Functions:

  • Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for production flow, equipment installation, processing steps, machining and material flow for military products.

  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

  • Deploys Digital Build Records and Component Bar Code Traceability scheme.

  • Take ownership of the performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency. Also, investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality and sustainment.

  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and has the capability to develop those techniques.

  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

  • Provide guidance to design engineering organization regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

  • Interface with design engineers, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, and shop floor personnel on a regular basis.

Education

  • Experience:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and a minimum 9 years of engineering experience.

  • Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution preferred.

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, customer and quality specifications.

  • Ability to independently set up jobs and process them to specification.

  • Possessing good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Comfortable and able to work well as part of an integrated team including engineering peers and manufacturing operators.

  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Self-starter and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced, highly technical work environment.

  • U.S. Citizenship is a requirement.

  • Proficient with Solid Works and MIL-SPECs

  • Limited Travel (10%)

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with wave solder and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with hands-on machining and/or production assembly line support.

  • Experience working with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Systems Applications and Products (Oracle).
