Overview

Performs basic manufacturing engineering assignments with the application of standard manufacturing engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for the improvement of existing processes and the introduction of new manufacturing products and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Performs manufacturing engineering assignments of basic complexity under direction and supervision with limited latitude for independent action and decision. Participates in the development, planning, and completion of assigned manufacturing engineering projects. Completes defined projects as part of a team or department to support the performance goals of the production process.

  • Prepares plans, process specifications and procedures, production aids and assembly fixtures, MRP support studies, factory cost work standards and similar assignments.

  • Conducts analyses or tests of a routine degree of complexity pertaining to the development of new methods, materials, processes or standards and provides recommendations accordingly.

  • Makes suggestions and leads improvements to A-dec's products and work processes based on technical knowledge and utilization of basic project management methods.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required, including proficiency in CAD.

  • Demonstrates skills suitable for application and interpretation of basic manufacturing engineering principles, theories, and concepts.

  • Demonstrates good organizational skills and the ability to manage time and resources effectively.

  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral, written and graphical form.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years working as a Manufacturing Engineer (in title and/or scope of responsibility)

  • Demonstrated experience in the application of structured problem solving and/or root cause identification methods in a manufacturing and/or quality assurance role.

  • Strong understanding and/or demonstrated experience with CNC machine programming, tooling, and/or optimization.

  • Experience working collaboratively with other manufacturing functions (Planning, Materials, Production Leaders, etc.) in a "mid-volume, high mix" OEM or contract manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience designing final assembly and test processes involving electro-mechanical assemblies of moderate to high complexity.

  • Knowledge of ISO 13485/UL/FDA standards for medical device industry helpful.

  • Demonstrated use of Lean Manufacturing tools/principals (value stream, kaizen, 6S, 3P, etc)

Responsibilities * Accomplishes objectives through team by clearly defining roles/responsibilities, communicating expectations, monitoring progress and appraising results to ensure department goals are met or exceeded. * Works with team to support process development and maintenance activities for machining, finishing and assembly operations. * Contributes to the achievement of department and cross-departmental goals/projects in quality, safety, on-time delivery and cost efficiency by analyzing and improving production workflow, methods, and controls. * Provides adequate resources to support production, new product introduction and other manufacturing projects, including direct support, while assuring that personal and direct reports' work assignments are carried out in a complete and timely manner. * Develops and implements performance measurements for key internal processes to ensure production goals are met or exceeded using Lean tools and continuous improvement practices. * Ensures project and/or process control documentation is compliant with regulatory requirements. * Remains current with new technology or areas of expertise and identifies training needs for all direct reports, promoting each direct report's personal development for job enrichment and growth. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience, along with 5 years of relevant technical leadership or project management expertise. * Demonstrated leadership ability, including supervision or project leadership, as well as the ability to effectively coordinate and lead cross-functional teams. * Advance project and time management skills and experience required. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and must possess good organizational skills with the ability to manage time and resources effectively. Preferred Qualifications: * CNC machining, laser etching, sheet metal forming, tube bending, welding, powder coating and/or other part finishing processes experience highly favored. * Final product, sub systems, upholstery, hydraulic, pneumatic and/or electronics assembly experience very beneficial. * Expert in Lean Manufacturing principals and tools (value stream, kaizen, 6S, 3P, etc.). * Adept in Quality Management principles and tools (RCA, DOE, SPC, CAPA, NCM, etc.). * Experience with Microsoft AX, Project, Access, Visio, SharePoint and/or Power BI. * Project Management Professional, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and/or Lean Certification a plus. * Knowledge of ISO 13485/UL/FDA standards for medical device industry helpful.
