Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA.
Supplier Manufacturing Engineering (SME) is responsible for supply base management related to the procurement of high reliability electronic, electrical, electromechanical, and electro-optical (EEEE) components. This high visibility position requires a motivated, self-starter with an engineering, chemistry or materials sciences background with excellent interpersonal skills to respond to program customer product needs and concerns. We are looking for a candidate with technical and manufacturing process knowledge in one or more of the following areas: electronic piece parts (passive or active devices), connectors and cable/harnesses, printed wiring boards, optics, or micro and macro electronic fabrication materials (epoxies and coatings). Candidate will be expected to work effectively with the Parts, Materials & Processes (PM&P) organization and other Engineering organizations to help resolve supplier issues and provide successful execution of technical solutions for procurement activities in support of Global Supply Chain.
Responsibilities also include:
Provide technical evaluations of supplier's proposals
Support the internal processes associated with program part selection, application, qualification and approval,
Supplier capability review and performance support
Support communication and alignment of suppliers with programs part technology developments.
Candidate is expected to have the ability to work both independently and as a team player.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of program customers and functional organization leadership.
Travel required up to 10%
Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering or Mathematical) with 2 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or an engineering field; OR Masters Degree in STEM
Experience reviewing engineering specifications, schematics and drawings
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD/SCI Security Clearance
Experience in Project Management
Experience formulating and executing solutions to production challenges Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Active DOD/SCI clearance
