This position requires candidates the ability to develop logistics flows based on safety, cost efficiency, quality assurance, environmental care and lead time according to our customer needs. This position demands a strong presence on the shop floor (production lines and warehouse), and constant interaction with manufacturing engineering teams, and material handling teams to solve problems and drive continuous improvement.

Role Mission

  • Lead Strategic activities in order to have a more efficient material flow Support the production lines as a customer by developing and implementing the proper material flow (linked to parts classifications)

  • Develop the rules/guidelines by type of flow, and seek out new and more efficient ways to improve material flows into and within the plant

  • Keep reports up to date based on activities

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities / Authorities

  • Support implementation of Volvo Production System - VPS

  • Support daily issues for Warehouse/Material Handling Team

  • Daily shop floor presence to support IE/ME/Production teams

  • Design new processes of material delivery at point of use and redesign/update existing processes

  • Set materials distribution inside picking area helping operators/pickers to achieve cost efficient standards

  • Design and support kit cart building for line side delivery

  • Develop and Implement the appropriate rules/guidelines for each different method of material delivery (kit, box flow, pallet flow, 2 BIN, JIT/JIS) aiming at logistics and environmental efficiency

  • Develop the proper packaging instructions according to guidelines for internal parts, assuring quality and safety in the process

  • Follow up with suppliers, material controllers, buyers and supplier development team for packaging instruction compliance

  • Support new product implementation processes, line side presentation, kit carts, and materials delivery

  • Develop material route deliveries and frequency at assembly lines

  • Support standard work and times for each activity using proper methods

  • Develop standard hours for any related activities to reach full workload condition

  • MSC/Material Handling Team labor force planning for people and equipment for the most cost efficient process

  • Ability for planning and do the budget forecast for structures and equipment inside logistics area

  • Labor force balancing through annual variations of production speed

  • Provide updated plant layout for materials and logistics flows

  • Lead/Support/Participate in continuous improvement activities and assembly line Kaizen events

Required knowledge & experience

Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is required. Strong preference for a logistics engineering focus, but will also consider mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in IE/ME within a manufacturing environment (internship/co-op experience is applicable)

  • Proficiency in CAD software (CAD/Catia/Other)

  • General computer skills (MS Excel, MS Access, MS Powerpoint)

  • Experience with internal material flows including flow design and routes for line delivery

  • Project management experience is preferred

  • Communications skills and ability to present reports and data in a clear and concise manner

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and improving optimized industrial solutions to support the facility and future tecnhology. The candidate will facilitate activities which implement and maintain processes to support safety, delivery, quality, and reduced costs in manufacturing. This person will also have a strong interaction with production personnel. The principal responsibilities of this position will possibly include the following: * Use of lean manufacturing tools to provide continuous improvement in production * Develop and enforce processes with immediate working group to eliminate mistakes, potential production delays, and inefficiencies. * Work with design team supporting new product development and validate new product designs for manufacturing. * Set up work areas with the proper tooling as well as processes and educate operators for new product launch assemblies. * Set up / balance assembly line for customer demand and efficiency. * Implement/ support material presentation to the lines (Kitting, Kanban, Line Side, etc…) * Support short and long term industrial plan to achieve flexible and efficient capacity solutions * Lead and/or support long term strategy for NPD and site layout. * Develop solutions to industrial problems by using mechanical/electronic/computer technology * Design and develop engineering systems for the automation of industrial tasks. * Apply mechatronic solutions to the transfer of material, components or finished goods. * Develop specific processes for 600V electronic machines/vehicles keeping the operators safety and general well-being in focus * Work with global teams on the further development of the electric machines/vehicles processes and best practices Job Content: 1.
