BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 company, is looking to add to our Configuration Management / Bills of Material (BOM) team. We would consider filling this position at any Combat Mission Systems site including Sterling Heights, MI; Minneapolis, MN; and Anniston, AL

As a Manufacturing BOM Staff Support person, you will:

  • Provide support for Bills of Material staff as detailed below:

  • Organize, coordinate, audit, and evaluate Manufacturing Bills of Material (BOM) efforts in support of multiple, significant developmental and production programs within BAE Systems guidelines and U.S. Government specifications; executes assigned programs within cost and schedule constraints.

  • Ensures the coordination of work tasks with internal customer representatives. Ensures customers are informed on status and progress of assigned tasks.

  • Contributes to the preparation of project documentation to ensure customer requirements are met.

  • Reviews documentation and applies knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes.

  • Analyzes proposed changes of product design to determine effect on the Manufacturing BOM.

  • Supports the coordination of modification records for BOM management control.

  • Contributes to the development of policies and standards to ensure team optimization.

  • Establishes, maintains, and promotes good customer relationships.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Previous Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP), Oracle, and Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) skills required. Includes detail entries supporting Item Masters, Indented structure Bills of Materials, and attribute encoding.

  • Previous Production and Prototype Manufacturing BOM management experience

  • Use of a Product Data Management (PDM) system such as EPDM/Windchill

  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and Configuration change documentation

  • General understanding of Engineering / Manufacturing / Operations processes.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills required.

  • Ability to participate and contribute to the team.

  • Excellent computer skills, with a solid understanding of the typical PC applications especially MS Office Applications. Heavy emphasis on Microsoft Excel skills, including comparison functions and data analysis.

  • More than 5 years Defense or Automotive Manufacturing experience preferred, with focus on Bills of Material management, Procurement, and Planning.

  • Working knowledge in US Army product development, processes and standards pertaining to engineering to ensure accuracy for production readiness.

  • Overall understanding of design engineering, manufacturing, material planning; production planning purchasing principles and discipline of CM. Ability to see the relationships of these functional areas and make decisions based on the business impacts to these areas.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience.

Currently we have an opening in our York facility for a Manufacturing Engineer. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for planning, designing and setup of new product processes as well as optimizing processes for released products. They are responsible for ensuring new and released products are manufacturable; providing oversight and input during design development, prototyping and production phases. Collaborates with design engineering, planning, procurement, production and quality functions to achieve reliable, high quality and cost effective products. Develops and improves manufacturing methodologies to produce militarized products for the Defense industry. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Develops work instruction methodology and work standards. * Leads the organization for training in J Standards and IPC. * Responsible for the overall maintenance of the buildings, labs, and equipment. * In charge of the organization and implementation of LEAN manufacturing principles. * Coordinates with engineers, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality to resolve, design, supplied and quality issues. * Monitors the cost of materials, labor, and overhead to determine the organization capability to design, produce and test products. * Coordinates development, implementation and evaluation of performance matrix systems and departmental policies and procedures to support LEAN, 5S and SPC. * Formulates programs regarding technology advancements, production optimization, product quality improvement and overall project cost reductions. * Responsible for analyzing and implementing corrective actions to address broad operational problems and interrelated activities concerning product development, production, product quality and safety. * Organizationally partners with all functional areas to transition new products to production utilizing the ERP/MRP system. * ERP/MRP work includes guiding and assisting engineering in the maintenance of part masters, BOM's, Routings, attaching of link files, etc. * Responsible to lead the 5S workplace organization efforts throughout the facilities. * Supports engineering and production functions for released products BOM accuracy, coordinating with all functional areas to ensure ERP/MRP system integrity. * Evaluates, analyzes, and improves manufacturing processes for enhancement of existing products, building robust process control into the operations. * Oversees development of production workforce work instructions and methodology * Evaluates and approves continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, cost reduction and throughput. * Provides technical support to production and quality to trouble shoot and resolve product quality and process flow issues. * Participates in personal continuous professional development Qualifications: Education/Experience: Bachelor's (B.S.) degree (engineering discipline) from four-year college or university and three years engineering/manufacturing experience and/or training or Associate's (A.S.) degree (engineering discipline) and five years related engineering/manufacturing experience and/or training.
