As a manufacturing engineer at Delta Faucet in Lapeer, you will be part of small energetic team that designs, develops and implements automated equipment and processes for a diverse bathing product line. You would actively engage with the corporate design engineering and marketing teams early in the product development process to create designs for manufacturability that meet safety, quality, and productivity goals in a lean environment. You would drive the analysis of relevant process and product data with support from a cross functional team to achieve continuous improvement within existing product lines that are striving for capacity growth, customer service improvement, and cost reduction.

Responsibilities:

  • Use Continuous Improvement (CI) techniques and structured problem solving (A3, PDCA, Kaizen, KATA) skills to develop strategies and programs that improve the quality and efficiencies of processes within the plant.

  • Perform process analysis (time/motion study) and failure mode analysis (PFMEA) of existing and new products, identifying and implementing improvements to equipment and productivity

  • Develop, implement and improve processes within thermoforming and robotic assembly cells as assigned by manager. Interface with ERP system to manage process routings, collect and analyze process qualification data (PPAP) and initiate equipment purchase orders

  • Display "Self-starter" approach with solid project management skills and good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

  • Lead equipment and process development internally or with designated integrators. Apply machine monitoring and automated product compliance audits, improving operator engagement and performance. Apply ergonomic principles and standardized work to manufacturing process design.

  • In conjunction with operations team members, assist in the resolution of process problems related to such items as material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, manufacturing procedures, and effectiveness of tools and equipment.

Education & Experience:

  • BS degree in an engineering discipline is required (i.e., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineering).

  • 5+ years of practical shop floor experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Must possess developed skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with web-based applications

  • Autocad or other CAD related experience

  • Good interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and build strong working relationships with individuals and within teams at all levels of the organization.

  • Must have technical knowledge regarding CI methodologies and have demonstrated problem solving, planning, and project management skills

  • Demonstrated initiative is required. The position will require working without close supervision, managing and prioritizing multiple tasks, and leading activities to define and implement new equipment and improvement projects.

Hiring Range: $72,300.00 - $113,630.00

Actual compensation may vary based on various factors including experience, education, geographic location, and/or skills.
