Job activities include the preparation of equipment and components for aseptic filling operations, performing visual inspection of filled vials, vial labeling, vial packaging and distribution of filled vials as per GMP regulations.

  • Execute daily tasks according to standard operating procedures in support of filling operations such as washing, cleaning and sterilizing equipment and components.

  • Participate in the inspection, labeling and packaging of filled vials.

  • Recording of activities in batch related documentation or equipment logbooks in accordance with good documentation practices.

  • Qualifies as an aseptic operator for the participation of filling activities using isolator technology.

  • Respects and adheres to all applicable health, safety and environmental policies promoting a safe workplace to prevent or reduce injuries.

Requires vaccination against different viruses including Vaccinia virus.

  • BS/BA in Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline

  • 0-2 years' experience in a GMP facility or High School Diploma and at least 2 years' experience in a GMP facility.

  • Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

  • Previous experience working with aseptic technique and good documentation practices preferred.

  • Must be able to follow cGMP regulations during operations including adherence to written procedure and contemporaneous documentation.

  • Must be able to record data accurately and legibly.

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to perform in a team setting in a controlled environment for long periods of time.

Novavax recently initiated development of NVX-CoV2373, its vaccine candidate against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and achieved positive Phase 1 clinical trial results. NanoFlu, its quadrivalent influenza nanoparticle vaccine, met all primary objectives in its pivotal Phase 3 clinical trial in older adults. Both vaccine candidates incorporate Novavax' proprietary saponin-based Matrix-M adjuvant in order to enhance the immune response and stimulate high levels of neutralizing antibodies. Novavax is a leading innovator of recombinant vaccines; its proprietary recombinant technology platform combines the power and speed of genetic engineering to efficiently produce highly immunogenic nanoparticles in order to address urgent global health needs. We are currently looking for personnel with experience operating the Sf9 / Baculovirus expression system process to support tech transfer and Process Performance Qualification of our COVID-19 drug substance process at multiple US locations. The initial focus for this role would be support be support of an ongoing GMP campaign in North Carolina. The expected duration of support is approximately six months. Additionally, there is opportunity to support a similar project at a Texas facility in 4Q20-1Q21. Following this project, this role will shift to support startup of a planned project for construction and startup of a NVAX owned internal manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Person-in-plant coverage of COVID-19 drug substance manufacturing at a Contract Manufacturing Organization * Training and coaching of CMO operations staff who are participating in the COVID-19 campaign * Supporting the authoring and revision of master batch records * Participating in process trending evaluations * Participating in process performance investigations * Regular interaction with tech transfer teams to enable right first time execution through the COVID-19 campaign * Any other activities as required Required Qualifications: * BS in life sciences or engineering * Previous experience with operating the Sf9 / Baculovirus expression system * Prior experience in a GMP regulated environment * Must be detail oriented and have strong written and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in manufacturing sterile injectable products * Experience with cell culture and stirred tank bioreactors * Experience with column chromatography, tangential flow filtration, and depth filtration * Experience with investigation of process deviations and implementation of corrective/preventative actions * Experience / certification in Lean Six Sigma or Operational Excellence * Demonstrated history of problem solving and continuous improvement Novavax, Inc. is headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland with additional facilities in Uppsala, Sweden.
