Position Summary:

This newly created position, Ammunition Manufacturing Analyst, reporting to the Arkansas Plant Controller, will be a key member of the Arkansas Facility/Finance Team and support the broader organization interfacing with Corporate Headquarters Finance and Manufacturing supporting production, monthly closing, financial reporting, cost analysis. The positions' primary role will be to focus on the daily and weekly transactions and data flow in the plant.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for daily and weekly reporting to support Plant functions

  • Supports the overall planning, coordination, and participation of the cycle counting process as well as the analysis of the results. Responsible for the monthly accounting and reconciling of the financial to perpetual inventory. Coordination responsibility extends not only to production departments but to outside stockrooms and vendors.

  • Support Product costing analysis as well as participate in our monthly reporting, budgeting, and forecasting cadence.

  • Supports the coordination and analysis of direct labor reporting

  • Identify and prepare Internal targeted cost analysis to support continuous improvement actions to drive higher margins across all product lines.

  • Maintain BOM's/Routings while working with the New Product teams to ensure on-going accuracy and reasonableness based on available manufacturing processes.

  • Perform variance analysis from First Article thru maturity in standard production for all new product introductions

  • Preparing recurring monthly journal entries related to inventory, labor reporting, cost of sales and other various entries.

  • Support standard to actual manufacturing variance analysis as follows:

  • Analyze and verify monthly labor utilization and efficiency

  • Headcount management & analysis by function / category

  • Review and investigate purchase price and material usage variances

  • Work with marketing and purchasing to establish proper cost on new parts and assemblies

  • Manage/Support reporting and analysis of inventories, inventory reserves, slow moving inventories, obsolete inventories, scrap, and inter-company transfers

  • Assist with both internal and external audits

  • Daily interface with manufacturing personnel and production planners. Assist planning and scheduling to improve inventory controls and internal programs.

  • Perform other related duties and specified projects as required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field related to the Job Duties; Finance/Accounting/Economics preferred

  • Experience 3 to 5+ years (Within a manufacturing company) at a matrixed (Multiple Business Units/Plants) product-driven company preferred. Strong plant/operational accounting experience preferred

  • Government costing background a plus

  • Prior experience and demonstrated strong user skills with ERP systems such as Oracle, JD Edwards, SAP, Infor, etc.

  • The ideal candidate will possess solid costing knowledge in a Plant environment along with the understanding of manufacturing processes and how they drive cost

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to effectively interact directly with senior management as well as other functional and technical areas (Product/Operations Management)

  • Strong in all Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and PowerPoint

  • Hands-on with the willingness to dig into detail to understand root causes and solve problems

  • A self-driven, intellectually curious individual with a high sense of personal ownership

  • High energy level: output focused, with a knack to find the needle in the haystack

Working Conditions:

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in designated areas.
