The Manual Machinist Operator focus:

• Set up to operate Lathe machinery and Manual mills
• Set up to operate Barber Colman Gear Hobbers.
• Use of manual and hydraulic tube bender.
• Inspect product to print.
• Inspect methods with Precision Height stands, Vernier's, Parkson Gear testers. Tolerance +-.0005.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, process sheets, program readouts and shop orders.
• Obtain proper set of tools from tool crib, select holders, mount, secure, and check tools for accuracy.
• Interpret drawings, route sheets, diagrams, specifications, and instructions to determine proper operation sequences.
• Make necessary calculations for tool depth and tool compensation adjustments.
• Move completed material to the next workstation.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment.

Requirements:

• Certificate from tech school is a plus.
• Minimum experience desired is 4 years.
• Ability to interpret and understand verbal and written directions.
• Mechanically inclined with strong math skills.
• Ability to read basic measuring devices, including micrometers, and calipers. Working knowledge of surface footage and feed rates and experienced in calculating feeds and speeds.
• Must successfully complete a blueprint reading course.
