Statement of Purpose:#The Blood Bank and Point of Care (POC) manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising all the functions within the Blood Bank and POC departments of the laboratory.# Blood Bank responsibilities include immunohematological testing, staffing, training, staff scheduling, budgeting, and maintaining supplies.# POC responsibilities include standardizing laboratory policies and procedures for the point-of-care laboratory services, performing correlation and linearity studies for all new testing systems, assisting in training of nursing personnel, coordinating annual competencies and inspection items for laboratory point of care services and respiratory therapy.


Other responsibilities include planning and coordinating all Blood Bank and POC functions:


budgeting, working with the Lab department#s administration, as well as other departments# personnel, including nursing, to ensure that services are of the adhering to regulatory and accreditation requirements, of the best quality, are cost contained, and are carried out in an expeditious manner. #Supervises on weekends and/or holidays, those who perform chemical/hematological/serological/immunological tests via instrumentation or manual means on body fluids, and exudates from hospital patients to provide information for diagnosis and combating diseases.


Qualifications:


Education:# Equivalent to B.S. degree in Biology, Chemistry or Medical Technology to be qualified for ASCP registration. Certification / License:# ASCP or equivalent required. Experience: 2 years of lab experience and proficiency in technical aspects of procedures preferred. 2+ years of direct management experience including dealing with complex issues or equivalent Superior communication skills; skilled listener and encourages direct, open, and honest conversation keeping all staff apprised of appropriate information Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships Excellent coaching, conflict resolution and mentoring skills Effectively manages team performance, including setting and holding employees accountable to established performance expectations. Ability to deliver effective feedback in a positive and constructive manner Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, utilizing problem-solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and drive employee engagement and teamwork Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and drive performance and process improvement initiatives Strong presentation skills and ability to present at all levels of the organization Ability to formulate and execute strategic plans for the organization. Demonstrated ability to make timely, informed data-driven decisions based on associated facts, objectives and risks. Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and use budgets and projections to execute financially related activities.
