Tigard Animal Hospital is hiring a Managing Veterinarian (Medical Director) to lead their team and that aligns with their core values and commitment to teamwork and pet care. Tigard Animal Hospital consists of veterinary professionals that share their love for pets and are dedicated to quality service to the client by treating each pet as their own.

Tigard Animal Hospital has been an established part of the community since 2003. We provide wellness, medical, and surgical care services to dogs, cats, and small mammals. We relocated to our current space in 2020. Our custom-designed facility offers 6 exam rooms, surgical and dental suites, large treatment area with full in-house diagnostics including ultrasound, digital radiology, and laboratory (chemistry, cbc, sedivue, coag). We use Avimark software and online pharmacy software that allows clients to conveniently order everything their pet may need.

We practice fear-free protocols and are feline-friendly certified, which ensures the safety of our team and our client's pets.

About the role:

The Managing Veterinarian is responsible for providing medical leadership for the hospital, managing associate veterinarians, and assuring regulatory compliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine. The Managing Veterinarian is also responsible for creating an environment of teamwork in which quality medicine is delivered.

In partnership with the Hospital Manager, the Managing Veterinarian is responsible for the financial performance of the hospital, preparing operating and capital budgets, and meeting budget expectations. In addition, the Hospital Manager and Managing Veterinarian are responsible for directing staff and the overall management of the practice, under the direction of NVA Divisional Leadership.

Skills and Basic Qualifications

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university

  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which the applicant is to be employed

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics

  • The ability to delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team members

  • Capable of quality decision making

  • The ability to coach, correct, develop, and motivate employees

  • Demonstrates excellent time and task management

  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation with staff and clients
