Edelman is looking for an entrepreneurial leader and consummate, full-stack storyteller who is excited about helping the world's biggest businesses, brands and organizations tell meaningful stories connected to data, culture, purpose and trust. Our ideal candidate is a multi-hyphenate that understands the art - storytelling, creative, culture - and science - technology, data, performance, business management - involved in the current and future craft of storytelling. This leader will have a proven track record of helping clients set strategy and tell stories at scale across audiences and channels.
You will be charged with leading a team of social strategists, content strategists, channel planners and editorial experts and be accountable for introducing clients to the power of content to drive business objectives. You will work in close partnership with our Head of Production and our teams in Creative, Strategy, Technology and Data to help clients build enterprise wide social media strategies, owned media and newsroom distribution engines, thought leadership platforms and performance driven dynamic content campaigns. A single day might include marshalling creative resources to help a brand client respond to a moment in culture to counseling an executive on how to build a thought leadership presence to working with your team to prototype content for new social media formats.
You will be the primary resource and accountable leader for thought leadership, storytelling offering and product development, client delivery, career management and talent development for team members within our Connected Stories group. In addition to partnering closely with our Head of Production, this role will work with global and regional practice and integrated solution leaders and market leaders to continue to build the future of Edelman's storytelling offering.
Build a next generation storytelling and content strategy capability and team for the US capable of operating across current and new channels and formats
Develop, oversee and advance Edelman's ecosystem of storytelling offerings, intellectual property, narrative, systems and products
Nurture a team culture and metabolism that is built to move at the speed of culture and social media and that prioritizes prototyping and experimentation based on data, culture and new content formats
Drive and maintain market-leading expertise, innovation and thought leadership in digital storytelling, platforms, content best practices
Directly lead client work and relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and escalation point for clients across sectors and disciplines
Willing to roll up sleeves, write thoughtful and compelling presentations, and teach the team how to up-level our work, and drive results
Effectively integrate with Edelman's data, performance, creative and production disciplines
Partner with production to ensure the execution of high-quality content at low-cost in a quick, agile creative environment
Understand the role of data in driving creative development and understand the role of emerging platforms in driving new creative formats and innovation
Provides strategy, vision and continuous improvement to advance relationships with key clients
Effectively influence, manage and develop large, distributed and diverse teams
Champion diversity; meets external candidates in priority markets
Continually map talent and manages succession planning to ensure continuity of bench strength
Manage staff, performance reviews and mentor career growth
Acquire as well as grow business, advance internal initiatives and make connections to other Edelman IP, offerings and integrated solutions
Monitor and drive revenue growth against innovative client solutions/firm capabilities
Contribute to and support our client and financial goals in terms growth, margin improvement, utilization and client satisfaction
Create strategic plan, budgets and forecasts as required within the financial cycle
15 years of relevant experience in field related to content and storytelling; advertising, digital agency, media company and/or client-side marketing experience preferred.
Significant experience in content creation with major brands, media or content companies;
Up-to-date with new digital technologies, platforms and social media best practices
Ability to partner with production to create content across channels, formats and velocities that drives client business objectives
Must understand the role that data and performance play in modern storytelling
Strong business acumen to support the daily financial management and strategic commercial vision of the organization
Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Must be an inspiring leader, teacher and mentor for others
