Job Description:

  • Management role that provides direction to employees concerning outside plant installation and/or maintenance activities.

  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of a variety of factors.

  • Exercises Engineering/Managerial judgement in selecting methods/techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Responsible for providing the planning, analysis, recommendations, work guidance or deviations in support of new construction of outside plant network structures and facilities, including digital loop carrier systems, ADSL upgrades and any new technology requirements.

  • Construction activities may be related to new facilities or modification of existing facilities.

  • Oversees the wireline engineering and construction projects to ensure projects are complete and within budget.

  • Primary contact for problem resolution.

  • Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires ability to apply broad knowledge of a variety of vendor equipment; ability to apply broad knowledge of outside plant and outside plant electronics disciplines. Ability to lead a group of individual contributors in order to accomplish the goals of the department. Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with PC and software to include CAD and Microsoft.

Education and Experience:

College degree and 5-7 years experience with 0-2 years supervisory experience desired or 9 years equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience with 0-2 years supervisory or a combination of education and related Engineering/Technical experience required.

Desired Qualifications:

Ability to coordinate large numbers of diverse projects while maintaining budgetary emphasis. Ability to effectively lead and provide managerial insight and direction to a technically oriented workforce dealing with large volumes of projects driven by diverse customer needs. IND123

This program will run from May 2020 to August 2020. This is a full-time opportunity involving 40 hours per week. Experiences that grow you-and your career. The Material Science Engineering Intern will assist the Engineering department as assigned, with material testing and selection. The intern will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team, potentially working on a variety of projects including Non-Destructive Test instruments. Job Duties: A typical day for you will include: * Adhere to policy and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment. * Has substantial understanding of company policies and procedures. * As a skilled specialist, complete tasks in resourceful and effective ways while adhering to production plan and schedules while producing high quality products to standards. * Works on assignments requiring judgement and initiative. * Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions. * Determine methods and procedures on new assignments where no standard processes have been established. * Act as a champion of the company's Lean and Continuous Improvement programs. * Time and attendance are in accordance with company policies, procedures, and work area schedule. * Completes work orders on schedule to ensure a constant flow of product to ensure on time delivery. * Advise management of adverse manufacturing and/or equipment conditions and issues that are affecting production and/or safety. * Identify overdue or potentially overdue work orders and alert managers. * Constantly review current manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement. * Develop in-process testing to understand/manage issues. * Train techs on policies and procedures. * Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be enrolled in a full time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited 4-year institution. * Must complete freshman year before the internship begins and graduate after the internship ends. * Preferred fields of study include mechanical engineering degree or similar. * Must not now or in the future require immigration-related sponsorship.
