Overview

Responsible for assisting and consulting with the Store Manager (Head Coach) regarding overall operations and administrative duties. This includes determining the methods and approaches necessary to accomplish the store's goals. The Manager-In-Training (Coach-In-Training) assumes supervisory control in the Head Coach's absence. The Manager-In-Training will be trained in Store Manager responsibilities.

Responsibilities

The Manager-in-Training's main responsibility is to assist the Store Manager (Head Coach) in controlling the assets of Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc.

  • Consults with Store Manager (Head Coach) in establishing action plan to accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering and scheduling.

  • Assumes responsibility of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager (Head Coach).

  • Assists Store Manager (Head Coach) in overall personnel recruiting, training and evaluation.

  • Provides knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.

  • Is aware of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.

  • Directs staff to insure each department's responsibilities and standards are completed.

  • Keeps Store Manager (Head Coach) informed as to inventory movement and customer trends.

  • Assures quality customer service is maintained.

  • Performs general administrative duties as needed.

  • Is trained in Store Manager responsibilities.

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education diploma (GED). No experience required.

The Head Coach represents the company in appearance, attitude and professionalism portrayed to employees, customers, and the community. Responsibilities The Head Coach's most important responsibility is to manage and control the assets of Hibbett Sporting Goods by managing his or her designated store. Directs entire sales effort in the store. Is constantly acquainted with all aspects of the store including sales statistics, inventory and expenses that together produce profit. Consults and teams with District Sales Manager as needed in establishing and enforcing policies, goals and procedures. Directs staff to ensure all responsibilities and standards in each department are completed. Is responsible for store personnel recruiting, hiring, training, discipline and evaluation. Maintains proper security for the store. Keeps the District Sales Manager informed as to inventory movement. Provides information and vigorously follows through on all marketing or advertising plans. Stays aware of customer trends. Keeps abreast of competition and new ideas. Keeps informed on community related events, to take advantage of potential opportunities. Protect the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures, and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk. Qualifications Bachelor's degree; or one to two years related experience and/or training along with a general education degree (GED).
