Jupiter seeks to hire a highly motivated and experienced professional as its Manager or Director, Origination. The successful candidate will lead Jupiter’s outreach to potential customers across the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

  •       Originate and lead commercial negotiations with utility, co-op, municipal, and corporate customers and partners and assist in conceptualization and execution of novel energy storage off-take strategies
  • ·        Build and maintain relationships with key customers through direct engagement and attendance at industry conferences. Execute outreach strategy to meet objectives by customer tier.

    ·        Provide direct feedback to development group on market intelligence to support project M&A, origination and new siting work. Support execution of these objectives, including managing M&A deal activity.

    ·        Source potential M&A and partnership opportunities to service market demand

    ·        Manage internal team in preparing and submitting proposals to potential customers

  •       Collaborate with analytics, finance, EPC, legal and management teams in preparing pricing and commercial terms for storage off-take. 
  •       Establish and maintain Jupiter’s local presence and relationships in select markets, and contribute to preparation of marketing materials to build Jupiter’s brand
  • Interface with project development and finance teams to align commercial objectives with project details

  •       Substantially contribute to execution of the company’s objectives and assist in board and other key stakeholder communications, including regular quarterly reports on origination activity
  • Preferred Skills & Experience

    Post graduate degree and 5+ years of experience in energy project development, origination, and commercial transactions

  •       Network in the energy industry among targeted customers as well as other developers
  • Working knowledge of RTO operations, power generation and storage technologies

  •       Proven creativity skills and capacity to solve problems with out-of-the-box solutions
  • Knowledge of energy trading and market pricing dynamics

  •       A solid track record of success in a development or sales capacity in the clean energy sector
  • Strong sales, marketing, and time management skills

    Requirements

  •       3-7+ years of experience in energy project development, engineering, and/or origination and commercial transactions 
  •       Familiarity with energy industry transactions, including PPAs, tolls, and hedges
  • Experience with energy storage and/or renewable energy

  •       High technical and commercial acumen to contribute to Jupiter’s view of competitive dynamics
  • Experience collaborating with diverse teams to successfully deliver complex projects

  •       Comfortable with ambiguity and making business decisions with limited information
  • Eager to wear multiple hats depending on business need and project priorities

  •       High comfort level with small teams & organizations, with the curiosity and enthusiasm to innovate and formulate new ideas and to bring the best out of co-workers
  • Unafraid to take ownership and initiative, in order to be to be effective within a highly motivated, fast-moving team

    Jupiter seeks individuals eager to develop their core professional knowledge, learn new areas of the business and take on additional responsibilities within Jupiter’s dynamic team. Secondary responsibilities will be tailored to individual candidate backgrounds as well as company priorities.

    Benefits

    Candidate should expect up to 50% travel. Compensation and benefits offered will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Location is flexible with a preference for Chicago, IL.
