About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison's (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE's 5 million customer accounts.

Position Overview

The Manager, Compliance Operations, will be a key member in the Compliance & Strategy organization, overseeing the compliance team supporting Substation Construction and Maintenance's (SC&M) NERC CIP, CAISO, CARB/EPA, OSHA, claims, and internal/external audits. They will manage a team of advisors, senior specialists and specialists, and report to the Senior Manager of SC&M Compliance and Strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • The Compliance Operations Manager will provide direction and consultation to leadership or others as requested on SCE's Substation compliance posture.

  • The successful candidate will support any applicable process education, communication, and training related to SC&M compliance activities.

  • Manage responses to compliance program owners, internal audit groups, external regulatory audits and data requests.

  • Represent the SC&M compliance organization in the SCE compliance landscape.

  • Responsible for creating a psychologically safe environment for employees to execute their work.

  • Drive for results and help employees identify mitigations for issues/risks.

  • Keep employees informed about relevant matters (e.g., company strategy, regulatory filings, etc.) that may impact their work.

  • Coach and train advisors and/or senior specialists/specialists to address opportunities for development and improvement.

  • Support staff in alignment discussions with key SC&M stakeholders (e.g., Ethics and Compliance, T&D Compliance Integration, Audit Services, Air Quality, etc.)

  • Oversees the management of any correction actions/mitigation plans.

  • Provide process and procedure recommendations to promote the successful implementation of current and future controls.

  • Represent SC&M in a professional manner and be knowledgeable about the activities managed by their team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience managing, supervising, or leading an organization, unit, or teams.

  • Five or more years of experience in compliance and audits.

  • Experience working with regulatory entities.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business or Computer Science or related technical fields.

  • Experience with NERC CIP compliance programs and data requirements.

  • General knowledge of Substation roles and processes.

  • Experience with COSO framework.

  • Project management experience.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage various work streams at the same time, integrate work across relevant areas, develop and execute operating/strategic/resource plans, manage information

  • Must demonstrate the ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers and stakeholders

  • Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
