Provides overall management for the North Shore Birth Center

Designs and implements structures, systems, and standards for improved patient care

Collaborates with midwifery, medical, and nursing staff to ensure appropriate quality care and management is provided through a cooperative effort between all disciplines

Coordinates and problem solves to ensure a seamless integration of services across the continuum of care.

Provides leadership for clinical practice and patient care delivery

Develops mechanisms to assess patients and families response to care, validating that care provided to patients is consistent with treatment plan, clinical guidelines, and is responsive to patient and family expectations.

Supports and helps implement evidenced-based practice in areas of responsibility

Directs and manages full scope of Midwifery Services at NSBC in alignment with strategic mission and goals of the organization. Responsible for maintaining collaborative relationships with consulting physicians, OB Medical Director and Maternal Newborn Services at Beverly Hospital.

Manages resources including budget preparation, variance monitoring and allocation of resources. Maintains current application of all policies and procedures for NSBC. Responsible for management of human resources.

In addition, provides full scope OB/GYN services for healthy women of all ages who meet the criteria for acceptance to Nurse Midwifery care. Maintains active participation in professional organizations.

This leadership position is for a Certified Nurse Midwife with leadership skills to manage a birth center based midwifery practice. The group provides outpatient OB GYN care, birth center births and hospital births. This is primarily a management position that includes some direct patient care.



Registered Nurse in Massachusetts

Completion of an accredited Nurse Midwifery program

Masters degree required

Three to five years current clinical experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife

Prescriptive licensure under Massachusetts Department of Public Health and federal DEA

Current BLS and NRP

Demonstrated leadership skills required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The Birth Center was founded in 1980 to provide an alternative for families who were seeking a more home like and intimate birth experience. Since 1980 over 5000 families have received prenatal care and given birth there. Services provided are, physical exams, newborn care, circumcisions, childbirth and labor management at the birth center or at Beverly Hospital, immediate post partum recovery, nutritional counseling, contraceptive counseling, and well woman gynecology care.

The North Shore Birth Center is located on the campus of Beverly Hospital. The building, formerly the home of the hospital administrator, maintains many of its homelike amenities.

The facility consists of a large living area, which serves as a family room for laboring families, and a waiting area for prenatal visits, a kitchen, two birth rooms, with private baths. The office area consists of four exam rooms, a reception area, two bathrooms, clean and dirty utility rooms, and storage closet.

About the Job We are seeking a licensed Program Manager who will serve as a support to the Director of Flexible Support Services by assisting in the supervision and coordination of the Flexible Support program. Individual & Family Flexible Services Program is a community based program that works with DMH eligibe youth. Flex offers several services including: * Family System Intervention - Family therapy model with masters level clinician and paraprofessional * Individual Youth Support - Mentoring by a paraprofessional * Collateral Contact - care coordination, clinical consult by a MA level clinician * Youth Support Groups/Therapeutic Day Service (TDS) - Psycho-educational/therapeutic community based groups to DMH eligible youth The Program Mangers responsibilites are: 1. Provides supervision to Youth Support Group Leader/Therapeutic mentors and clinicians as assigned by Director of Flex Supports. 2. Available to program staff (YSG Leaders/therapeutic mentors) via telephone for consultation during regular worked hours as well as evening and weekend hours as needed by the program to provide on call coverage in collaboration with other supervisors onsite. 3. Assists Director and Administrative coordinator of Flexible supports in intake of referrals and communications with DMH regarding referrals. 4. Assists Director of Flexible Supports in assignment of cases and scheduling of group leaders. 5. Assists in hiring process of new staff; interviewing, orientation, and training. 6. Performs direct billable services as assigned by the Director of Flexible supports, including Family Systems Intervention; Collateral Contact; Individual Youth Support and/or Youth Support Groups services. 7. Participates in meetings and committees as needed to maintain contacts to the community and system of care. 8. Maintains strong working relationship with the Department of Mental Health contacts via scheduled meetings and consultations as needed when questions or issues arise. Qualifications: * Master's Degree in related field required * Must be a licensed clinician with specialized training and experience in child/adolescent issues, child-serving agencies (e.g. DYS, DCF, DMH, DDS, DESE), mental health, family centered treatment, strengths-based interventions, and Wraparound planning process consistent with the Systems of Care philosophy. * Must be able and willing to transport persons served. As such, all qualified candidates must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, and reliable vehicle.
