The Mgr., Utility Business Analysis role is responsible for strategic research and analysis of Entergy's (ETR) electric utility load, industries and customers, and commercial and business environment, which may have key implications for ETR's long-term growth. This role leads or supports projects, initiatives or efforts for Corporate Development & Strategic Initiatives, Utility Business and Economic Development teams, and Transformation organization. The work scope also includes developing commercial and business assumptions for various growth initiatives and innovation efforts, and influencing the long-term economic growth of ETR's businesses.
Research and data analysis on utility customer segments, including segmentation, usage trends, and industry outlooks, based on economic research, data analytics and modeling. Research areas may include:
Industrial/commercial load categories (e.g. Refining, steel, petrochems, etc.)
Economic drivers: supply & demand; price setting mechanisms, etc.
Regional economics - regional and state drivers
General trends, macroeconomic effects on customer segments
Commercial and business assumptions relevant to our and customer's businesses
Identify potential new industries/sectors that may expand in the utility regions; Provide ad hoc analytics to support utility Business and Economic Development and Innovation teams.
Integrate/communicate with utility Account Managers and Economic Development teams; Incorporate utility customer specific information to internal analysis.
Educate/train teams and senior management on potential issues; Support Investor Relations/Management and utility teams in various sector and utility customer sector specific issues.
Research key trends in commercial and business environment in our region and develop understanding of key assumptions that may drive innovative products and services for ETR's utility customers.
Work in a matrix environment with a cross section of skilled teams and analysts to achieve team objectives.
Minimum education required of the position
Requires a Bachelor's Degree, Degrees in economics, mathematics, data sciences, engineering or other analytical fields. MBA/Master's degree in related areas preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position
6-8 plus years of experience in electric utility business, energy business, energy data analytics, commodities or related fields
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Good understanding of utility business model and key electric demand drivers.
Superb statistical and data analysis skills;
Prefer candidates with some background in or exposure to traditional analytical software such as Power BI, SAS Analytics, R, Python etc.
Knowledge or experience in key industries in the Gulf coast such as refining, petrochemicals and the business environment can be beneficial.
Strong working knowledge of MS office applications, particularly Excel and Powerpoint
Experience with financial software, such as Bloomberg is a plus.
Self-starter and great interpersonal skills; Be able to function in a matrix environment
Excellent communicator; Ability to explain complex analytics.
Ability to analyze and drive for results despite uncertainty or unpredictability.
Strong attention to detail and quality of work.
Ability to think outside of the box.
Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize.
