Position Summary:

Coordinates the performance improvement and quality programs for the Cancer Institute to include (but not limited to) the Commission on Cancer quality studies and improvements; clinical pathway development and tracking, Quality Oncology Improvement Program (QOPI), any accreditation, regulatory or pay for performance measures and other quality initiatives. Ensures compliance within guidelines of all regulatory and accrediting agencies

  • Maintains compliance with regulations, codes, and TJC, CoC and Magnet standards.

  • Reviews, revises and develops policies and procedures for navigation on annual basis

  • Recognizes problems and implements solutions in a timely manner.

  • Assures staff completion of all mandatory education annually.

  • Communicates key information to Cancer Institute staff as appropriate.

Assists Executive Director and Director in identifying performance measures and areas for improvement

  • Maintains current knowledge of oncology related pay for performance measures, national trends in quality, and regulatory/accreditation related quality requirements.

  • Recommends studies and improvements to improve delivery of care.

  • Provide data and analyses to support the need for development and implementation of new quality programs.

Assists in preparing and reporting quality metrics

  • Collects and inputs monthly dashboard metrics for PI committees.

  • Prepares graphs for presentation of metrics.

  • Presents metrics at PIC, CoC, BPL and CI Steering Committees

Assists Executive Director and Director in short and long range strategic planning

  • Maintains knowledge of current/future trends in navigation.

  • Recommends new programs/services to meet customer needs or to maintain market share.

  • Assists with development and implementation of new navigation programs.

Serves as resource for quality processes and tools

  • Provides leadership in promoting and supporting UTMC quality and PI programs (PDSA, LEAN, etc.).

  • Maintains knowledge and expertise in endorsed PI methodologies and tools.

  • Supports CI performance improvement teams

Position Qualification:

Bachelors Degree Required

3 years Healthcare/Medical - Oncology/Cancer Care

Experience in program development. Two years experience, active involvement in quality or performance improvement programs preferred

License in area of professional training. Certification to meet Magnet/ANA requirements
