Logistics Category Manager- Truckload- Help Us Move in The Right Direction
In this position, you will utilize your expert knowledge of the current transportation market and develop a strategic vision to reduce the overall $105 million annual truckload spend while maintaining quality. You will establish strong relationships with our internal customers, including plant managers, regional controllers and shipping personnel. You will work closely with our Director of Logistics to form strong relationships with our shipping carriers and use your negotiating skills to secure favorable contracts for Masonite. Your skillset will blend perfectly with our highly talented logistics team.
Negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers
Manage 100+ truckload and intermodal providers
Strong leadership skills
Experience managing people and teams
Ensure metrics, reports, and process documentation is available
Develop and maintain strong relationships with all connected with the logistics process
Recommend optimal transport modes, routes or frequency for domestic shipments
Comfortable leading meetings and working with cross functional groups
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers at all levels verbally and in writing
Detail-oriented person able to put together accurate reports
Ability to manage stress and adjust schedule to demands of business
Analyze the financial impact of changes in routing, equipment, carrier, volume and/or product mix and take appropriate action to mitigate cost and service impacts
Make recommendations for improvement to maximize usage of transportation network
Demonstrates process-oriented work structure
Excellent communication and reporting skill
Strong prioritization, planning, reporting and organizational skills.
Strong background in transportation
Exposure to multiple modes of transportation [Truckload, Intermodal, Dedicated, LTL]
Shipper and Manufacturing experience preferred
Intends to increase level of responsibility within organization
Strong PC skills including Microsoft office suite, database management, and TMS experience
5+ years' experience in transportation area, preferably in TL & Intermodal modes and methodologies.
