JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Manages a program of utility transmission facility replacement and construction projects that are typically $20M and above. Works directly with Construction Supervisor to ensure projects are delivered with cost and schedule certainty.

Identifies, manages, and mitigates project risks. Works directly with Project Controls Specialist to ensure process alignment and proper project controls are implemented. Works with Finance group to ensure costs are managed; change control is established and controlled; and that contingency is properly controlled.

Manages the development and delivery of capital projects to which he or she is assigned and focuses on the achievement of project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety and quality. Provides direct management and support to Project Team members throughout the project lifecycle. Works closely with business unit contractor representatives to achieve capital project objectives..

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project. Leads the project team to establish leading indicators and proactive requirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, Entergy project team members, and the end user. Ensures contract scope of work includes safety deliverables/requirements as needed.

  • Defines the project organization structure required for the project and identifies the technical skills required to achieve project goals. Works with the appropriate Entergy management to assign appropriately skilled individuals to the Project Team.

    Prepares contracts and approves requisitions, change orders, and invoices. Fulfills role of 'Contract Manager' or as Owner's representative for project contracts. Develops and issues formal correspondence to Contractors.

  • Leads the project team to develop and execute the Project in accordance with the applicable corporate standards and guidelines. Ensures that team members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles.

    Navigates the project through the Entergy Stage Gate process and coordinate activities to meet the requirements of Entergy's Project Delivery Standard. Oversees the project team in the development of project deliverables (cost estimates, schedules, risk registers, etc.). Coordinates the activities of project stakeholders and working groups engaged in project work.

  • Develops and maintains the Project Execution Plan and executes the project in adherence with this plan. Establishes and maintains project documentation.

    Coordinates the efforts of all project participants including consultants and contractors. Ensures previous projects' Lessons Learned and applicable industry experience is incorporated into the project execution plan. Manages the project in line with the project budget. Ensures project controls are implemented for effectively managing project scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts and communications in accordance with the applicable corporate standards.

  • Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management.

    Prepares reports and presentations to management.

    Prepares and issues status reports as required. Identifies, makes timely decisions and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance. Promptly communicates issues to the next level of leadership that are outside the authority or capability of the Project Manager to resolve.

  • Coordinates with all functional departments as required to achieve the requirements of the applicable corporate standards and to achieve project budget and timeline including Finance, Legal, Plant Operations, and Supply Chain. Monitors contractor performance in the area of project safety, schedule, cost, quality of work and compliance with contractual requirements. Turns over completed project equipment/systems to the Plant with all necessary documentation, training and instructions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum experience required of the position
10+ years experience in Distribution, Substation or Transmission Required. Field Experience is preferred.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • History of safe work performance and demonstrated active involvement to establish a safer workplace.

  • Expert in project and construction management fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of Transmission Line or Substation design standards and construction & maintenance practices.

  • Experience in new ROW acquisition procedures for new transmission line construction.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong negotiation abilities.

  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.

  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel & Outlook, Power Point).

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

Desired: PMP Certification.
