Manager, Technical Accounting & Internal Controls
LGC Clinical Diagnostics team develops and manufactures a comprehensive portfolio of catalog and custom-developed diagnostic quality solutions and component materials for the extended life sciences industry. We partner with IVD assay developers, and pharmaceutical, CRO and academic institutions in commercialization activities across the entire diagnostic pipeline - from concept and early stage research, through expedited product development and onwards into routine clinical use. The Technical Accounting Manager will join the Finance team to supplement our collective efforts to continue to create a best-in-class Finance team of business partners that support LGC's growth. The role will support merger and acquisition-related work in the due diligence, purchase accounting and post-acquisition integration phases, including audits. This position will also be the subject matter expert the Finance team will look to for accounting guidance and interpretation relative to treatment and reporting business transactions across CDBU entities. In addition to special projects, to help development in areas of operational experience, this position will help assess ongoing internal control gaps and facilitate remediation efforts across departments and entities in the business unit.
Recommend accounting treatment for certain business transactions after research and review of accounting guidance and assessing accounting implications to the business on US GAAP and IFRS basis using external resources and tools as needed
Prepare written accounting and financial reporting memos for business leadership to support proposed accounting treatment
Review proposed accounting treatment with auditors and corporate office to ensure compliance with US GAAP and IFRS requirements, as needed
Participate in the due diligence reviews for potential acquisitions with cross-functional teams
Prepare necessary financial schedules for purchase accounting and preparing completion accounts related to acquisitions
Coordinate timing, deliverables and reporting needs with Corporate office
Help the local controlling teams with integration and accounting efforts after acquisitions
Facilitate review of acquisitions and supporting documentation during audits
Assist the BU Controller's team in implementation of internal controls by coordinating with functional department heads and monitor such that controls can be sustained using company-provided tools
Facilitate an independent balance sheet review of all entities annually with the CDBU Controller to identify any financial risk and ensure compliance in reporting and accounting treatment
Ongoing development of financial reporting analysis and key metrics to ensure key drivers of business performance are monitored and understood to support decision making
Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing financial policies and procedures
Lead/participate in continuous improvement projects to get acclimated with business operations and deepen understanding of the business
Other duties/projects, as assigned - for instance post-merger activity review and accounting of affiliate in 3Q 2021, lease accounting reporting and treatment for IFRS 16 amongst CDBU entities, revenue recognition review, as examples.
System knowledge and experience
SAP would be preferred
MS office products with strong Excel skills
Knowledge of Tableau or other BI tools would be a plus, but not required
Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills
Working knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS knowledge would be an additional plus
Research and review of technical guidance and ability to articulate clear action and conclusions

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
A combination of public accounting and industry experience would be ideal; working experience in mergers and acquisition-related work, writing technical accounting guidance memos and/or implementing internal controls is a plus
Working with cross-functional teams on projects as an individual contributor but also adept at managing others to achieve common objectives/project goals.
