Enviva is seeking a Manager of Technical Accounting to oversee and maintain the internal controls and financial reporting adherence to internal policies and statutory requirements. This role will report to the Director, Technical Accounting and will have primary responsibility for the leadership of Enviva's technical accounting matters, including:
Evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements
Guidance on new contractual arrangements
Guidance on deal structures, including potential M&A arrangements, debt, and equity issuance
Guidance on Financial Reporting and Disclosure Matters
Essential Functions of the Job:
Lead implementation of new accounting standards, including revenue recognition and leases, and participate in creation of new financial reporting processes, as needed.
Assist to provide guidance and draft accounting policies to include revenue recognition, accounting for fixed assets and capitalization policies, consolidation, business combinations, and foreign currency matters.\
Assist in the structuring and accounting for debt and stock issuances, derivative instruments, leases, intercompany financing arrangements and revenue-generating activities.
Assist to evaluate disclosure requirements for the Form 10-Ks, 10-Qs and other SEC filings.
Monitor GAAP and SEC developments and lead the adoption of new accounting and disclosure rules.
Work closely with external auditors on review of technical accounting matters.
Maintain effective internal controls to ensure transactions follow Company policies and are properly reflected on the financial statements
Complete ad hoc analysis and projects, as needed
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
CPA; active license status
4-8 years of work experience and a minimum of 5 years in public accounting; working with public clients
Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) experience the ability to implement business processes required to ensure compliance with its tenets.
Knowledge of and ability to create, implement, evaluate and enhance internal control processes
Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Working knowledge of IFRS
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High quality communication skills and the ability to distill and communicate complex topics
Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize diverse tasks, comfortable working in unstructured environment

Experience with financial and accounting reporting systems
