The Manager, Tax ensures PPD's compliance with statutory and judicial tax law in the various jurisdictions in which the company operates. Minimizes the tax liability through effective tax planning and proficient compliance procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Researches tax issues and manages tax planning projects.

  • Coordinates and performs compliance duties for the company's entities, including the reviews of multiple tax packages, for the filing of consolidated tax returns.

  • Reviews and files quarterly estimated tax payments, monthly sales and use tax returns, property tax returns, and quarterly excise tax returns.

  • Coordinates with outside tax consultants to manage tax compliance for certain foreign entities.

  • Assists with the year-end and quarter-end tax provision as required.

  • Performs due diligence when an acquisition is being contemplated, including the evaluation of the tax position of the target company.

  • Serves as a mentor and lead for junior staff.

  • Previous experience with ERP and OTP (tax software) is strongly preferred

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification (MS in Accounting and CPA is a plus)

  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years') or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.

  • 1+ year of leadership responsibility

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of tax preparation programs and tax compliance

  • Solid knowledge of tax research tools and understanding of general ledger packages

  • Proficient with Microsoft office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees

  • Positive attitude and the ability to proactively direct and promote teamwork in a multi-disciplinary team setting

  • Good business acumen with ability to understand complex tax theories

  • Demonstrated initiative and motivation

  • Ability to lead complex projects

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.

  • Occasional drives to site locations with occasional travel both domestic and international.

  • Long, varied hours may required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.

  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.

  • Frequent mobility required.

  • Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.

  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.

  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

  • Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups.

  • Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.

  • Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress. Ability to multi-task.

As part of this team you will mainly service our high net worth and family office clients. As a Tax Senior, you will be responsible for the following job duties which are focused around two core concepts: your technical and quality expertise and delivering excellent client service: * Preparation of Tax returns (Individuals (1040), Trusts (1041 and 5227), Partnerships (1065), S and C-corps (1120), Gift (709) Charitable Organizations (990-PF)) – up to 75% of your time * Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds reviewer's and client's expectations * Provide training for interns and entry level staff * Recognize and inform senior management of opportunities to increase level and types of services to clients * Ensure professional development through ongoing education and obtaining additional certifications as appropriate * Start providing detailed review of numbers on Tax returns – approximately 10% of your time * Handle routine client tax questions, research tax issues, and works with clients to collect necessary information for tax return completion and compliance * Travel to client sites as needed – up to 10% of your time All percentages may vary based on location, line of business, and client need Basic Qualifications: * Minimum of 3+ years of recent experience in Public Accounting with an emphasis in taxation * Experience with Individual Taxation * Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field would be desirable but not required * Must be eligible to sit for the CPA Exam – or licensed JD * Understanding of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance * Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements Preferred Qualifications: * CPA, JD, or Enrolled Agent Designation * Masters in Accounting * Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation and research, review experience a plus * Effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as good computer skills * Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously * Experience with a national, regional or local accounting firm is a plus You want your next step to be the right one.
