The Manager, Tax ensures PPD's compliance with statutory and judicial tax law in the various jurisdictions in which the company operates. Minimizes the tax liability through effective tax planning and proficient compliance procedures.
Researches tax issues and manages tax planning projects.
Coordinates and performs compliance duties for the company's entities, including the reviews of multiple tax packages, for the filing of consolidated tax returns.
Reviews and files quarterly estimated tax payments, monthly sales and use tax returns, property tax returns, and quarterly excise tax returns.
Coordinates with outside tax consultants to manage tax compliance for certain foreign entities.
Assists with the year-end and quarter-end tax provision as required.
Performs due diligence when an acquisition is being contemplated, including the evaluation of the tax position of the target company.
Serves as a mentor and lead for junior staff.
Previous experience with ERP and OTP (tax software) is strongly preferred
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification (MS in Accounting and CPA is a plus)
Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years') or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
1+ year of leadership responsibility
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of tax preparation programs and tax compliance
Solid knowledge of tax research tools and understanding of general ledger packages
Proficient with Microsoft office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Ability to interact with all levels of employees
Positive attitude and the ability to proactively direct and promote teamwork in a multi-disciplinary team setting
Good business acumen with ability to understand complex tax theories
Demonstrated initiative and motivation
Ability to lead complex projects
Working Conditions and Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
Occasional drives to site locations with occasional travel both domestic and international.
Long, varied hours may required.
Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.
Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
Frequent mobility required.
Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
