Prepares staff schedules and work assignments and ensures the department is adequately staffed to provide required hour services.
Establishes procedures and sets standards for the handling of goods coming into the system.
Demonstrates proper procedures and techniques, for handling and storage of product and operation and maintenance of departmental equipment.
Ensures all personnel are aware of and follow proper aseptic techniques, as necessary.
Establishes and maintains a comprehensive training & development program including personnel orientation, ongoing inservices and advanced training.
Develop and implement measures of performance including staff competencies, inventory order completion, and accurate cart fill rates.
Reviews existing and develops and administers new policies and procedures for Storeroom.
Streamlines procedures for more efficient operations.
Maintain permanent records of all quality assurance aspects of storage and other functions of the area assigned.
Prepares operational reports on inventories.
Maintains records and documentation.
Provide statistical reports on products of productivity for areas assigned on a routine basis.
Analyze usage figures and submit regular and special reports concerning distribution activities and recommend necessary changes.
Determine inventory levels of supplies utilizing proper inventory control methodologies.
Serves on Value Analysis committees.
Responsible for identification of problem/issues and plans for resolution.
Initiates quality improvement activities in within Supply Chain department.
Prepares for the Director's approval the annual capital and operating budgets for storeroom.
Monitors approved budget against actual expenditures to ensure variances are within acceptable limits.
Pursues and implements cost-saving initiatives as part of overall management for Supply Chain Department.
Maintains personnel costs and operational expenses within annual budgeted dollars.
Participates in the engagement of programs and practices designed to improve morale, employee attitudes, working conditions and communication among all employees.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
MINIMUM Education:Requires a level of knowledge normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's of Science or Business Administration degree.
Advanced knowledge and experience in the care and handling of complex medical equipment and surgical instruments.
Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel experience are required.
Knowledge of computerized inventory systems preferred.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:Requires 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in a healthcare organization.
Prior experience in Materials Management preferred.
Experience in dealing with employees covered under bargaining unit contracts is highly preferred.

OR Materials Tech – Supply Chain Operations This is a Full Time position 80 hours every two weeks, benefit-eligible Night Shift: 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM 8 Hour Shifts Rotating Weekends Position Highlights: Under the direction of the Assistant Manager of Supply Chain – OR, an OR tech is responsible for forecasting the day to day availability of commodity and implant supplies for assigned OR service lines. Provides supply chain support for surgical services. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. Position Responsibilities: * Responsible for effective distribution of surgical supplies to designated locations, inclusive of Q-Sight cabinets, Par Excellence locations, support rooms, sterile areas and all appropriate areas within the Operating Room. Daily activities will include, but are not limited to: * Daily inventory of Q-Sight & Par Excellence areas (including cycle count audits, monitoring expiring/at-risk inventory, and working through outstanding orders – providing substitute options when necessary) * Daily restocking and returning of unused product to assigned locations. * Maintaining audit schedule. * Reconfiguration of any assigned locations (par level adjustments and removals/additions of product) * Receives, unpacks, and delivers supplies ordered from vendors and off-site warehouse. * Reviews and verifies accuracy of shipments by counting and comparing packing lists with all receiving/delivery tickets for accuracy of receipt. * Performs basic contract administration by following up on back-ordered supplies with surgical buyers and notification to appropriate service. * Assists appropriate management personnel in the maintenance of predetermined par levels of supplies. * Interacts with clinical staff in a cordial and professional manner. * Must maintain environmental cleanliness and order in specific work areas * Must be flexible with schedule and provide coverage when needed, including after hours and weekends when necessary. * Willingly participates in quality improvement processes. * Ensures that order placement and delivery dates meet clinical needs. * Problem solve with clinicians on any supply-related issues (stock outs, backorders, inadequate stocking, etc.) * Performs fiscal year end physical inventories. * Provides assistance, guidance and backup for related personnel in the Supply Chain department * Performs other related duties as assigned or required. Position Qualifications Include: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * High school diploma /GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. * Two years of Healthcare Supply Chain experience highly preferred. * Knowledge of computer applications and software programs, including MS-Office (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel), Internet Applications, ERP systems, Surgical Information System (SIS) and basic understanding of inventory management systems. * Knowledge of inventory control processes. * Basic understanding of clinical terms and procedures. * Ability to multitask under pressure and meet strict deadlines. * Superior organizational & communicative skills with high attention to detail.
