Role and Responsibilities

Position Overview

The Manager of Supplier Relationship Management will play a pivotal role in advancing and strengthening our 3rd party relationships in order to maximize realized value and minimize risk through effective supplier relationship management. This position is responsible for the development and management of one or more indirect spending categories with a key focus on relationship management. This position reports to the Director of Supplier Relationship Management and Legal Planning within the Retail Business Planning team.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Consistently employs best practices that enable achievement of supplier relationship management objectives: develop and manage partnerships, leverage supplier capabilities, deliver cost savings or improved value and reduce supply risk exposure

  • Proactively manage and lead supplier performance across assigned categories using segmentation models and scorecard evaluations. Ensure compliance with contracts, assess financial health, and develop risk mitigation plans for key suppliers.

  • Build, establish, and maintain relationships across the organization with financial and operational teams to ensure full understanding and support of SRM initiatives

  • Lead strategic sourcing projects from supplier research phase to offer analysis and scenario development

  • Perform complex data analysis to identify new sourcing and other cost optimization opportunities in order to generate cost savings for categories managed

  • Actively manage supplier base optimization, recommending the ideal number and sufficient capabilities of suppliers to meet the needs of the business without excess

  • Own supplier contract negotiation and execution in collaboration with Samsung legal and operations teams

  • Develop and execute an annual category management plan to identify and prioritize supplier relationships, sourcing initiatives and other tactics to maximize realized supplier value and minimize risk

  • Lead cross-functional teams in the development of category planning and sourcing strategies

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Finance/Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field from a four-year college or university

  • 6 years purchasing experience in a Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, and/or supplier management role

  • Exposure to strategic supplier management practices

  • Knowledge and understanding of multi-step Category Management, and/or Strategic Sourcing processes

  • Project management experience

  • Strong multi-tasking skills along with excellent analytical, negotiation, written and oral communication skills

  • Proven ability to influence others and drive meaningful change results

  • Proven collaborator with the ability to work with all levels and functions

  • Must have a data-driven approach to solving problems, demonstrating an ability to be highly organized, extremely detail-oriented with strong leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and/or industry-recognized certifications (e.g. CPSM) and 6+ years of relevant experience are highly preferred

  • In-depth use and knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Access, and SAP a plus
