Northrop Grumman is seeking a talented and experienced Software Manager to join its dynamic team in Annapolis, Maryland. The Manager will be the lead for the Undersea Systems Software team with responsibility for approximately 30-40 staff.

The role will focus on two primary areas of responsibility: team leadership and management, and team technical performance. Responsibilities include the oversight and addressing of cost, schedule, and technical quality for development efforts. There is additional functional oversight of varied disciplines working multiple programs, IRAD, and new business capture opportunities with strategic importance for large downstream value.

The Software Manager will also be responsible for staffing and workload forecast; support and adherence to standard software processes; Agile Framework; lessons learned; and employee engagement, mentoring and career development, including training and identification and training of skills required to execute on programs.

The responsibilities include the recruiting, sourcing, and onboarding of new employees as well as contract maintenance for the contractors working in the business area.

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver. The Software Manager will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals. The selected candidates will work closely with Managers of other engineering disciplines, and Program Managers.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidate must possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical area. Minimum 9 years of experience in a software engineering discipline.

The candidate must have experience in a technical leadership role on a software project. Exposure to all aspects of the software engineering process, from requirements analysis through verification testing. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Effective communication and presentation skills. High proficiency in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring.

This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen; ability to obtain a Top Secret and Special Access clearances may be required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS / SCI w/ poly

  • Masters' degree in a relevant technical or management specialty.
