Job Summary

The Manager of the CHOC Sleep Labs is responsible for ensuring quality improvement, staff development, safety and regulatory requirements are met. The Manager will work in collaboration with the Diagnostics Director in planning, developing, and initiating the activities of the CHOC Sleep Program across the CHOC Children's continuum of care.

The Manager will manage and analyze quality and accreditation requirements across all Sleep Labs. The Manager provides staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, and change agent for the department. The Manager may administer corrective action under the direction of the Diagnostics Director and performance evaluations for all Sleep associates.

Facilitates the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, and continuing education. The Manager will manage and analyze monthly operational and quality metrics/statistics. Assures quality care and compliance with internal standards as well as accreditation/regulatory bodies.

Organizes, plans, and presents sleep disorder specific in-service programs for CHOC Sleep associates. May score sleep studies and/or provide direct patient care to patients for polysomnographic studies.

Pay Range

Minimum $84,567 Midpoint $112,042 Maximum $139,538

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

  • Required: Minimum of seven (5) years direct patient care experience in Sleep Medicine and a minimum of two (2) years' experience in a supervisory, leadership or manager role.

  • Preferred: Six (6) years of pediatric Sleep Lab experience.

Education

  • Required: Graduate of a two (2) year accredited Sleep Technologist program.

    Board of Polysomnographic Technologists Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential or graduate of a two (2) year Respiratory Therapy accredited program, National Board of Respiratory Care Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Board of Polysomnographic Technologists Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or National Board of Respiratory Care Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS) credential. Bachelor's degree in science or equivalent experience required.

Training:

Required: Successful completion of validated competencies for a Sleep Technologist or completion of validated competencies in the Respiratory Care Practitioner-Sleep position.

Specialized Skills

  • Required: Demonstrated strength in building and articulating a vision and setting goals.

    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills to understand and anticipate the impact and opportunities across multiple critical projects. Ability to build and establish positive relationships with stakeholders and staff at all levels. Experience leading multiple projects while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.

    Intermediate or advanced computer, spreadsheet, and database skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal relationship and collaboration skill.

Licensure

  • Required: Medical Board of California Polysomnographic Technologist License or California Respiratory Care Board-Respiratory Care Practitioner license

  • Preferred: Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists Certificate in Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH). Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist Pediatric Sleep Certification .AHA-BLS Certificate.
