The Manager, Shopper Marketing is an individual contributor, and will report to the Director, Sales Marketing. This individual is accountable for the development of creative briefs, creative execution, program budget and tactics, post-program analysis as well as identifying competitive in-market programs and trends. The ideal candidate will maintain and develop strong cross-functional leadership between sales and the broader organization including sales-marketing, creative services, operations, and finance to execute against and achieve company KPIs.

Ideally this person lives in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, however, we will consider candidates who live on the West Coast.

POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of in-store shopper marketing programs aimed at driving purchase intent and aligning with brand, retailer, and foodservice objectives.
  • This individual is accountable for the development of creative briefs, creative execution, program budget and tactics, post-program analysis as well as identifying competitive in-market programs and trends.
  • Collaborates with Sales Marketing, Sales Directors, Field Sales, Retail, Food Service, Operations, Creative, and Accounting teams to ensure Shopper Marketing programs are aligned with a business plan and operating plan and drive visibility in-store, and achieve company KPIs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning and Financial Management:

  • Collaborate with various teams (Brand, Sales, Trade Planning, Finance) to ensure alignment of Shopper Marketing programs with business objectives and revenue targets.
  • Utilize shopper insights to develop insight-driven programs aligned with category growth strategies.
  • Manage the shopper marketing budget across all customers, forecasting and tracking CPUMs (Cost Per Unit Moved) to plan.
  • Develop and gain alignment on Shopper Marketing strategic plans for customers across different channels.
  • Support the annual Sales Planning process for key accounts and report to the Sales Marketing Director.

Program Execution and Customer Relationship Management:

  • Creates ground-breaking shopper marketing programs that deliver on the Hint brand and company KPIs
  • Develops all components of Shopper Marketing program development including - program objectives, P&L forecast, creative brief, agency briefing, program tactics approval, estimate approval and budgeting.
  • Measure program effectiveness against objectives and recommend improvements in collaboration with Marketing, Finance, Sales, and Trade Planning teams.
  • Manage creative strategy and process from start to finish (creative briefs, creative development, in store execution, etc.)
  • Act as a Shopper Marketing knowledge expert for retail customers, providing recommendations and best practices.
  • Manage data syndication and product content across relevant sites.
  • Coordinate with Sales Marketing, Sales Directors, Field Sales, and Operations teams to ensure alignment with business and operating plans.
  • Manage customer promotional and display program execution, collaborating with internal and third-party merchandising vendors.
  • Work with internal creative and brand teams to ensure successful execution of program elements and alignment with budget.
  • Develop customer-specific presentations on consumer insights, competitive responses, and selling strategies.
  • Lead new product launches and commercialization efforts in-store and online, collaborating with innovation and sales teams.
  • Manage IRC/coupon strategy and execution, including production, distribution, tracking, invoicing, and efficacy. Own Coupon Clearinghouse vendor relationship and budget.
  • Sponsor programs, develop partnerships, and manage shopper marketing agencies.

Requirements

You are energetic, outgoing, and highly organized. You have a track record of meeting (or exceeding!) goals and delivering against clearly stated objectives.

Experience working with vendors is a plus.

  • Location: Bay Area preferred, if not, then remote working in the West Coast time zone.
  • 5 years of Brand, Customer, and/or Shopper Marketing experience.
  • Experience in the CPG industry is required, ideally in branded food manufacturing.
  • Experience working with Nielsen and shopper behavior marketing data. 
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter but able to take direction, ability to work both independently and as a team player. 
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal). 
  • Passionate about a healthy lifestyle. 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; a combination of education/experience will be considered.
  • Market visits are required monthly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PPT, Word) and Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Doc, etc.).

Benefits

  • Base salary of $90,000-105,000, based on territory and experience. Actual salary offer may vary based on location and work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
