Our Geek Squad Services team is looking for a Manager of Services Project Delivery Office that has broad range of experience in various industries executing a wide variety of medium to large projects. We are looking for an individual that is able to think strategically to understand the project sponsors vision, be able to translate that vision into executable parts, and communicate this to the project managers assigned to the work stream. He/She will influence a business process change in those work streams to bring the sponsors vision to life and partner with project managers help to advise, guide and influence to remove obstacles.

This role requires a unique blend of program management and project management thinking and skill set where this individual will be able to influence, persuade, mediate conflict in addition to the typical project management responsibilities of timelines, scope and issues logs. The ideal candidate for this role is able to quickly build relationships, credibility and partnerships across the organization and is also an exceptional writer and communicator that will tell a story and provide clarity for project sponsors and project managers. What is the Manager, Services Project Delivery Office responsible for?

This role plays a part in building strategy and making the complex clear, simple and easy to understand. They do this by leading the appropriate resources necessary, understanding dependencies, influencing partners, and aligning meeting rhythms to get the job done. They must be able to articulate the Services and overall business group strategy in cross functional settings within as well as across other business groups.

This position provides leadership, expertise and input on key decisions. This position is responsible to drive co-development of business strategies to execution with direct accountability to deliver the holistic project plan. The role must balance day to day business needs with more strategic activities. This role works closely with the Services team and other cross functional partners to influence decisions and deliver a world-class solution.

Areas of ownership and impact:

Project Management

  • Think independently and creatively to lead and execute large and medium-sized (e.g., business unit-specific or cross- functional), complex projects from strategy to execution that will address business issues or solutions.

  • Determine project team structure, including resource allocation, to manage projects in a flexible and adaptable manner and use available Best Buy Project Management tools to schedule and track project and resources while driving project outcomes that maintain time, scope, resources and quality.

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and work direction of project teams while maintaining and adhering to SOP and Change Management standards.

  • Communicate clearly to provide project/status reporting to appropriate stakeholders and internal Best Buy project governance.

Financial and Risk Management

  • Facilitate the development of project cost/financial objectives for inclusion in the business plan that will ensure meeting overall budget expectations. Work with Finance and business partners on changes to financial expectations.

  • Perform risk and issue assessment of projects and systems for the business and provide contingency plans.

Management and Leadership

  • Create an engaging environment where the team can achieve maximum performance and potential, receive timely and clear direction, experience development opportunities and receive rewards/recognition"including productive feedback that is open and authentic.

The most successful candidate will be someone who embraces the Project Management process, is forward-thinking, progressive, understands the retail world and has a past track record of significant accomplishments in cross-functional projects.

In addition to having experience in the responsibilities above, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

Basic -

  • 4+ years of Project and/or Program management experience
  • 4+ years of general business experience
  • 4+ years of strong Communication skills (presentation & facilitation skills)
  • 4+ years of medium to advanced skills utilizing tools and technology
  • 2+ years of people management and/or leadership experience

Preferred -

  • Associates degree
  • PMP, CAPM, CPPM or similar certifications
