The Manager, Ames Service Bench Ames & Canada is responsible is to managing the processes and activities of a Hach Service Center which provides repair, calibration, preventative maintenance, and upgrade services on Hach equipment along with associated administrative and support functions. Direct reports include technical staff for bench Service operations.

This position is part of the North America Service Operations team located in Ames, IA, and will be onsite.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Manage daily operations based on Key Performance Indicators and other measures. Track and analyze data to identify and respond to volumes, trends, and drivers

  • Hire, train, and develop personnel, including performance management activities including associate recognition, training, coaching, and discipline

  • Evaluate associate skillsets, maintain skills matrix, identify and plan development and growth opportunities; build talent funnel

  • Guide continuous improvement projects and lean cell implementations

  • Interface with Operations, Service, Sales and Business Units

  • Manage material and inventory levels for the Depot

  • Attend service core team meetings to assist in new product introduction Service Strategy

  • Ensures processes and systems are in place to control shipment and receipt of hazardous materials, use of approved Hach shipping methods, packaging, and labeling, import/export compliance, and specific carrier requirements

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 3 or more years experience leading a team of technical associates (technical focus on electronics, instrumentation repair, or similar field)

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Service or Operations experience preferred

  • Experience in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word

  • Background with ServiceMax and/or Salesforce including report development, data input, data analysis, and dashboard creation preferred
