General Description of Position: Provides tax technical support as a member of the Washington National Tax Group in the Baker Tilly LLP National Tax Practice to the Tax, Audit and Consulting Practices of the Firm in all areas of employee benefits and executive compensation in For-Profit, Tax-Exempt Organization and Governmental subdivision environments (including church related organizations).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for keeping abreast of current developments and preparing tax alerts for the Firm and its clients designed to advise professionals and clients on current developments coming out of Washington and the courts as they relate to their practice

  • Provide tax technical support to professionals in the tax, audit, consulting and internal HR practices on employee benefit/executive compensation issues affecting their projects (it is anticipated that this will entail either briefing the professional on the relevant issues, attending client meetings with the professional, or by reviewing the issues with the client or its legal counsel or advisors directly. It is anticipated that the delivery of these services will involve the preparation of e-mails and planning memos, as well as participation in conference calls and meetings.

  • Responsible for both formal (internal and external participation in seminars and conferences) and informal employee benefit/executive compensation training in the context of the tax, audit and consulting practices, preparation of articles for publication in professional journals or treatises and participation in government hearings and conferences on behalf of the accounting profession

  • Responsible for assisting the National Controversy Group in the preparation and issuance of Firm Tax opinions addressing Employee Benefit and Executive Compensation issues, in conjunction with transactional tax work (including due diligence, executive compensation, and Golden Parachute consulting), and preparation and submission of applications for letter rulings by the Internal Revenue Service

  • Responsible for assisting the National Controversy Group with technical employee benefits / executive compensation support in connection with clients undergoing tax examinations by the Internal Revenue Service

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years working in tax law

  • Bachelor degree is required. Either Master degree in Taxation or Juris Doctorate from accredited law school, preferred.

  • Superior written and oral communication skills along with analytical and research skills (LEXIS or WESTLAW)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office, required

Overview The Senior Manager of Global Benefits is responsible for the oversight and management through the Center of Excellence (COE) of FMC's Global Benefits Program. Duties include the review, analysis and design of all Health & Welfare and Retirement programs in support of FMC's Global Benefits strategy. This individual will also manage all US Benefit programs. This position reports to the Director of Total Rewards and will manage a regional COE staff. This individual will work directly with Treasury and Finance to ensure alignment, governance, compliance and cost management of both U.S. and non-U.S. Benefits programs. Responsibilities US Benefits Strategy and Operations * Designs and implements Benefits improvements, initiatives and key projects to ensure programs are aligned with business objectives and compliant with governing regulations * Develops long term strategic goals for Benefit programs (H&W and Retirement) * Directly manages the day to day operations of FMC's North America (US, Canada, Puerto Rico) Benefit programs and drives efficient and cost-effective operational practices * Manages vendor performance and resolves escalated operational issues to ensure that employees and internal clients are receiving a high level of customer satisfaction * Ensures that plans are compliant with all relevant Benefits laws and regulations, including compliance with key Healthcare Reform requirements, HIPAA, ERISA, DOL and IRS regulations. * Maintains plan documents and ensures all participant reporting and disclosure requirements are met * Working with FMC communications group, develops communications strategy and designs communications plans to improve on-boarding, employee awareness and appreciation of the benefits programs. {Communications are aimed at all levels of the organization, and include multi-channel campaigns.} * Collaborates with IT and HRBPs to ensure successful execution of projects which enhance/improve effectiveness of benefit programs. * Collaborates and consults with key internal stakeholders including Business HR Directors and staff, Legal, Corporate Communications, Payroll, the HRSC, HRIT and Finance to ensure operational effectiveness * Collaborates with FMC's external reporting function to ensure compliant and timely external reporting * In conjunction with business HRBPs, supports union negotiations relating to benefit plan design and cost changes International: Manages International Benefits team in performing benchmarking of benefits plans, capturing financial data on programs and providing direction on plan design * Oversees insurance pooling program to achieve optimal financial performance * Coordinates annual renewal of insured benefit programs through global broker of record (GBR) team. Collaborates with regional COEs and HR leadership to gain alignment around plan design, competitiveness and costs. Approves all final renewal activity and confirms with region COEs and local leaders * Provides direction to regional COEs and HRBPs on country benefit practices, competitiveness and cost effectiveness to balance business needs and employee relations concerns * Monitors regulatory compliance and adherence to the principles of FMC's global governance policy.
