ABOUT ENCORE BOSTON HARBOR

Encore Boston Harbor is a luxury global destination gaming resort that features 671 hotel rooms with sweeping views of the Boston skyline and Boston Harbor, ultra-premium spa, luxury retail, high-end dining, and state-of-the-art ballroom and meeting spaces. It is the largest private single-phase development in the history of the Commonwealth. Situated on the waterfront along the Mystic River and connected to Boston Harbor, Encore Boston Harbor includes a six-acre park along the water that features a harbor walk, an events lawn, public viewing areas, ornate floral displays and retail and dining experiences that overlook the Encore Harbor Walk.

The Encore Boston Harbor Manager - Salon Prive ( Butler Services) will manage the daily operations of In Room Dining. The Restaurant Manager will coordinate a team of Sales Agents and team members to deliver a Forbes Five Star In Room experience to guests within strict timing guidelines as set by 3rd Party Hotel Rating partners. The function not only covers traditional meal formats, but also guest amenities and when necessary hospitality suite formats. The Restaurant Manager will also oversee the administrative functions of the department including scheduling, ordering, inventory, upkeep of all necessary logs and forms. The Restaurant Manager will also work closely on training and development of the team which will include secret shopping and frequent blind evaluations. This includes, but is not limited to; the management of the department strategy and ensuring alignment with overall Encore Boston Harbor strategy; maximizing opportunities for departmental and company success; maintaining all Encore Standards: and ensuring excellent guest and team member experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures all Encore Boston Harbor core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied.

  • Manages short-and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement. Identifies key drivers of success.

  • Manages the departmental performance, and the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental policies and procedures; records and reports.

  • Manages the performance of team members under his/her area of responsibility.

  • Monitors all activities of the department to ensure that all applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and controls property wide are enforced.

  • Ensures department delivers and maintains a maximum level of property-wide service and satisfaction.

  • Facilitates communication throughout the property by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings with team members within the department and with other departments as appropriate to ensure property wide communication.

  • Responsible for hiring, performance management, and employee engagement within the department. Provides training opportunities, constructive and positive feedback to team members within area of responsibility. Creates a motivating environment.

  • Keeps informed of all new developments within the department and makes recommendations designed to maximize department and company success.

  • Effectively manages internal and external guest relations, which will require levels of patience, tact and diplomacy. Responsible for addressing guest and team member issues as appropriate.

  • Manages multiple priorities simultaneously and meets deadlines, often in stressful and high-pressure situations.

  • Must have the ability to promote positive, fair, and ethical relations with all team member, with all Encore contractors, and in all interactions within the Host and Surrounding communities as an ambassador of the Encore brand.

  • Oversees the Implementation of standards as detailed in the departmental standards and procedures manual.

  • Oversees the Sales Agent team, ensuring they are kept up-to-date of any menu changes or seasonal availability of items.

  • Adheres to opening and closing procedures and to bill paying procedures.

  • Conducts effective shift briefings ensuring all staff are aware of VIPs, special occasions, daily specials; emphasizes on upselling certain products; etc.

  • Shares recommendations and guest comments to Chef and Assistant Director of In Room Dining to reflect current customer profile.

  • When appropriate, personally handles and oversees all VIP rooms.

  • Works with safety as a priority, and follows department and company safety standards.

  • Maintains relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.

  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Age, Gaming and Certifications:

21 years of age or above.

Will be required to obtain and maintain registration or a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Must be able to obtain an alcohol awareness card.

Education and/or Experience:

High School degree or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in a hotel or restaurant management field or equivalent experience preferred.

Minimum 5 years of full-service restaurant experience required, In Room Dining management experience preferred, 3 years in a leadership role preferred.

Requires strong computer skills and proficiency in POS Systems, Purchasing Software, Warehouse Requisition Software, Time-Keeping Software, Opera and Microsoft Office

Candidate must have experience with planning and project management.

Must possess outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, as well as excellent attention to detail.

Knowledge of union as well as non-union working environments preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.

Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability:

Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Ability to decipher various reports and create reports upon request.

Encore Boston Harbor Executive Meeting Manager is responsible for soliciting, booking and coordinating small group meetings to include rooms sales, catering and ancillary revenue for the resort in order to meet/exceed revenue goals. The Executive Meeting Manager provides accurate and timely event information to hotel operations, banquets and food & beverage departments regarding conferences and functions and coordinates effectively with cross property departments to provide outstanding event experience. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Solicit, negotiate and confirm new and repeat business through various efforts (lead follow up, telemarketing, direct mail, referrals, internet prospecting, etc.) to maximize revenues to meet/exceed goals. * Effectively evaluates, prospects, solicits and sells group business as required to meet individual and departmental sales room night and revenue goals and overall departmental sales and catering profitability. * Develop and grow relationships with key accounts to maximize sales potential. * Executes pre-qualification of accounts and conducts rate negotiations, site inspections, outside sales calls and follow-up to all clients. * Creates appropriate group proposals, contracts, addendums, in accordance with departmental guidelines and procedures and all client correspondence relative to bookings. * Makes sales presentations to clients and organizations as necessary. * Manages and responds to all Requests for Proposal (RFPs) in a timely manner, within 24 hours of receipt. * Plan, up-sell and coordinate function details with clients to include but not limited to space requirements, meeting times, equipment, menus, billing, etc. * Prepare and execute sales/catering contracts, catering event orders, group resumes to ensure quality product delivery and customer satisfactions. * Input all client correspondence and activity into the Delphi sales system, maintaining accurate and detailed information on all accounts to include rooms, function space, catering details, reservations, billing, etc. * Create and distribute effective internal and external communication (written and verbal). * Develop and implement creative sales strategy by analyzing historical, current and future hotel/market/account trends. * Develop and continually enhance relationships with key corporate, business and travel industry accounts. * Maintain accurate, legible records and files consistent with established automated or manual sales system. * Participate in training, trade shows, field trips and community, industry and professional organizations to maintain high visibility in support of the achievement of sales and revenue goals. * Ensures all Encore Boston Harbor core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied. * Manages short-and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement. * Manages the departmental performance, and the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental policies and procedures; records and reports. * Monitors all activities of the department to ensure that all applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and controls property wide are enforced. * Ensures department delivers and maintains a maximum level of property-wide service and satisfaction. * Manages multiple priorities simultaneously and meets deadlines, often in stressful and high-pressure situations. * Maintains current knowledge of competitive properties. * Attends daily and weekly meetings as deemed necessary by the Executive Director of Hotel Sales and Catering. * Formulating quarterly sales action plans consisting of strategies and action plans in conjunction with attaining hotel and departmental sales strategies. * Works with safety as a priority and follows department and company safety standards. * Maintains relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training. * Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.
