The Headlines:

In the role of Manager Safety working in Elkton, VA, you will be part of the Environmental, Health & Safety Team. You will provide and promote brewery safety leadership to deliver enhanced safety assurance according to local and federal OSHA standards.

This person is responsible for deploying, implementing, and leading the Health and Safety agenda for the manufacturing facility by supporting the management team with integration of prevention, workers compensation and regulatory compliance into everyday work life. This person will engage leaders and employees of the brewery in a way that improves plant performance by reducing the risk of safety incidents and providing tools and systems that deliver health and safety performance. The person is expected to provide collaborative, proactive, and creative problem solving ability to develop best-in-class Health and Safety programs for the improvement of the overall Health and Safety strategy.

This position reports to Vice President and Plant Manager and works closely with a variety of departments.

The Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements health and safety programs, policies and procedures

  • Supports incident investigations

  • Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local government safety codes and regulations

  • Partners with corporate health and safety in the implementation of identified critical health and safety initiatives

  • Establishes and maintains procedures to ensure that only safe tools, equipment and supplies are purchased for brewery use

  • Provides advisory and consultative services to brewery personnel

  • Conducts analysis of hazards, safety statistics and recommends corrective measures and plan modifications

  • Drives the health and safety management programs and elements

  • Conducts and completes capital project reports for health and safety and develops recommendations that meet or exceed local regulatory and MillerCoors standards

  • Monitors changes in federal, state and local safety and health codes, and communicates such changes to brewery management

  • Consults and supports brewery on safety culture process

  • Coordinates all safety regulatory compliance requirements

  • Leads team performance, talent, and career management and creates a culture of employee engagement

The Other Qualifications:

  • BS or BA in safety, engineering, or related field and advanced degree preferred

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status preferred

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in manufacturing leading and improving safety performance and regulatory compliance

  • You are confident and competent. You are diplomatic, professional and exercise great judgment in developing and maintaining excellent business relationships within the business

  • You are serious about delivering results, and take pride in a proven track record in delivering

  • You are a motivated leader that can inspire others; you respect your commitments and are able to obtain optimal results from your team through respect and development

Position Summary This full-time position shall report to the Project HSE Program Manager and aid in establishing and enhancing a positive HSE culture. The primary responsibilities include: * Development, presentation, and record keeping for all training programs, this will include metrics tracking which will support HSE incident trend analyses. These training programs shall include, at a minimum, new employee Orientation, hazardous energy control, fall protection, confined space entry, spotter, HSE Mentor, and fire protection. Other training deemed necessary based on Project implementation will be required; * The position will support Supervisor training, walkable ceiling training, Level II clean room training, and other specialty trainings which may, in whole or in-part, involve other organizations; * The position will serve as the primary manager of the HSE Mentor/Mentee Program, ensuring training, documentation and field follow-up is completed; * The position will be responsible for the review, classification, and processing of SORs, and will be tasked with supporting actionable follow-up/close-out with HSE field staff and Jacobs CM staff; and, * The position will provide awareness level training for contractors who are expected to perform within an established, over-arching Jacobs HSE program and will conduct specific training to support Jacobs field personnel to ensure consistent HSE program implementation. * Candidate will hold an OSHA 510 credential (minimum) and an OSHA 500 (preferred) for construction. * Candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of professional training experience in HSE programs (e.g. confined space, fall protection, hazardous energy control, vehicle spotter, and fire protection) * Candidate will have experience serving in similar positions on large, complex industrial construction projects that include pharmaceutical projects. * Candidate will be required to be self-starter, effective time manager, personable and physically capable of personally navigating large construction projects via walking and climbing stairs. #AF #LifeSciences Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc.
