We are hiring a Manager Route Engineering for our Route Engineering group in Bloomington, MN. The Manager of Route Optimization is responsible for implementing and managing optimal route operations and ensuring the execution of excellent customer service. This leader further works cross- functionally with other business partners to plan and execute route operations in order to support the growth of the organization with a strong focus on safety, service and productivity.

  • Develop and implements the overall strategy for route optimization including clearly defined processes and cost effective tools/ route engineering software.

  • Creates route operations plans to ensure adherence to route re- engineering processes to proactively manage route growth workforce implications volume surges holiday implications etc.

  • Ensures effective and economical fleet routes.

  • Leads the review of data analytics to provide insights and recommendations on systematic solutions for optimal fleet and route performance in support of customer service standards.

  • Partners with sales leaders to ensure high market performance route performance and customer service standards.

  • Partners with cross- functional partners to manage fleet resources and ensure routes are equipped with all required resources for efficient execution.

  • Further monitors activity and provides solutions for new challenges

  • Reviews resource allocation and monitors its impact to the customer and P&L statements.

  • Determines appropriate actions to rectify any inefficiencies.

  • Determines logistic support sequences and timing for rolling out fleet route optimization.

  • Leads and implements projects related to route and network optimization.

  • Develops and manages the various projects, budgets, costs, expenses and system flows that support route and network optimization.

  • Manages trains and develops subordinates if applicable.

  • Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission values code of ethics policies and other standards of conduct.



Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering(or related field)

Years of Related Experience:
7 years of related experience (with Descartes WinRoute- Route Scheduling Software or Transportation-related modules and/or suitable route engineering software)


  • Strong knowledge in supply chain principles data structures network and system relationships data transfers entity relationships and client/server relationships;
  • Basic understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) structures and functionalities;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs including Microsoft Project Windows Access Excel and Word; Proficiency in Visio and SQL programming;
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and strong presentation skills;
  • Strong problem-solving analytical organizational project management and facilitation skills;
  • Strong leadership coaching and managerial skills;
  • Intermediate financial analysis skills;
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work independently under stressful situations;
  • Must have the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the organization.
