Our UT Health Tyler hospital is seeking a Risk Management Manager. We are looking for your experience, knowledge and patient care skills where you will be responsible for:

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop and deliver education programs to all employees, including orientation or employees, which involve all components of clinical risk management, risk assessment, risk identification, reporting and risk avoidance, to address the risk management process and regulatory guidelines

  • Perform in-depth analysis of reported incidents, grievances and claims to identify causation, mitigation and improvement opportunities. Communicate relevant clinical risk management findings to the appropriate leadership team members

  • Manage, track, trend and analyze the frequency and causation of general categories and types of incidents and accidents. Assist with managing and analyzing risk management data including management of online incident report system and tracking incidents to closure. Audit medical records and monitor performance measures for risk management sentinel events, report events and trends. Assist with FMEA, gap analysis and incident trend analysis

  • Report Potential Compensation Events (PCEs), Claims and Lawsuits to the Third Party Administrators or Corporate for future handling

  • Assist defense counsel with Interrogatories, Request for Production and overall investigation of claims

  • Complete hospital insurance applications and maintain insurance schedules

  • Provide assistance to departments in complying with accrediting agencies regarding risk management related standards

  • Address patient grievances

  • Interact with patients and families on complaints of substandard care, injury and other concerns in collaboration with the quality assurance team, staff and providers

  • Complete medwatch reports to the FDA involving adverse events

  • Comply with statutory risk management reporting requirements

  • Recommend appropriate revisions to new or existing policies and procedures to reduce the frequency of future occurrences, recommend ways to minimize risks through system changes, review and revise facilities' policies as appropriate to main adherence to current standards and requirements

  • Participate in committees related to patient safety

So what experience are we looking for in a Risk Management Manager?

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare risk management, quality or performance improvement
  • CPHRM, ARM, CPHQ certification preferred
