Job Overview:

The Retention Marketing Team is responsible for managing the customer contact strategy, lifecycle, and end to end campaign execution for all digital retention channels Email, Mobile, and Site Targeted Content.

The Manager will be responsible for overseeing the end to end execution and delivery for Email, SMS, Push Notifications, and Site Targeted Content communication - promotional, editorial, loyalty, credit-related, and 3rd party messaging. They will manage the production workflow for all Retention Marketing tactics working with cross functional teams, consistently identifying areas of opportunity across the workflow, manage partner relationships, and support omni-channel initiatives for Macy's.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the production team that leads email, SMS, app push, and site targeted content campaign execution The team is responsible for email production from the start to finish asset review, asset delivery and attribution, job assembly, testing, preview and dashboard execution.

  • Monitor status of campaign operations as the primary day to day contact for Retention Marketing tactic Vendor's Production and QA teams. Point of escalation for off hours business questions/decisions on campaigns. Must be available during off hours as needed.

  • Lead strategy to improve marketing email communication execution and messaging strategy by incorporating more personalization, dynamic content, and send time optimization.

  • Demonstrate & exercise thought leadership to improve complex workflows and provide feasible solutions. Redefine current processes in order to gain workflow efficiencies, maximize bandwidth, identify automation opportunities and cost savings.

  • Act as gatekeeper for business-driven communication changes and ensure all changes are made where needed.

  • Relationship building with cross-functional teams (e.g. Communication Strategy, CRM, Marketing Strategy, Project Management, Creative, Content Engineering, and Quality Engineering teams) to complete work, collaborate on solutions and implement change seamlessly.

  • Partner with Experimentation team to plan out team capacity, understand test design/hypothesis and ensure accurate execution for tests.

  • Business owner for all technical enhancements & new capabilities to the workflow by building out business requirements and project manage with vendor and solutions manager.

  • Monitor campaign ROI and partner services & expenses to ensure budget is allocated appropriately.(i.e. continuous evaluation of capabilities and costs and scope opportunities to leverage external partners to function within the workflow).

  • Manage 4 direct reports:

  • Build out team succession planning to ensure business continuity.

  • Coach team to lead self and delegate projects.

  • Help develop growth and learning goals for the team.

  • Consistently demonstrate regular, dependable attendance, responsiveness and punctuality.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills Summary:

  • 4-6 years of experience in marketing required.

  • 3 years knowledge of email and direct marketing methods required.

  • BA/BS college degree is required; concentration in Marketing a plus.

Communication Skills:

  • Self-starter with strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to escalate issues and pushback as needed.

Relationship Skills:

  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a cross-functional, team-based environment.

  • Ability to independently handle and filter issues and questions from various teams.

  • S/he can manage shifting operational and project deadlines in a cross-functional and collaborative environment.

Management Skills:

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to maintain and enforce documentation.

  • Ability to identify, resolve, and escalate issues, challenging the status quo when appropriate.

Analytical Skills:

  • Strong analytic, financial and problem-solving skills a must.

  • Heavy focus on quality assurance and high attention to detail are essential to success.

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrable computer skills and aptitude/passion for technology, including proficiency with MS Office and database applications are a must.

  • Experience or knowledge of HTML, data processing and database applications is a strong plus.

Physical Demands:

  • This position involves regular ambulating, sitting, hearing, and talking.

  • May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

  • Involves use of hands and fingers for typing on keyboard and using a mouse.

Work Hours:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

  • Typical work hours 9am-5pm and overtime and after-hour support as needed.

Decision Making:

  • Ability to problem solve when late changes or workflow issues arise.

  • Partner with team members when making recommendations to business stakeholders.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Management with direct reports is a plus.
