Maintains staffing and daily activities of the shift in order to provide quality care to patients seen by the Respiratory Care Department
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) plus at least 3 years experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
Requires current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Respiratory Therapist and registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
Requires knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and microbiology, pulmonary physics, pulmonary pathophysiology, advanced respiratory care mathematics, blood gas chemistry and pharmacology. Requires comprehensive understanding of all procedures, systems and equipment used in respiratory therapy as well as high levels of proficiency delivering respiratory care at a level generally acquires during one to two years of experience.
Requires interpersonal skills necessary in directing the work of therapists.
Requires the ability to explain hospital and department policies and procedures in difficult and complex patient care problems.
Requires the ability to evaluate performance of staff member and develop sound policies and procedures.
Requires the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
