Position SummaryIn Collaboration with the Technical Director, the Manager will assist in supervising and coordinating activities of all therapists, on all shifts to promote and develop standards of care for the performance of Respiratory Therapy practices. Will also provide support to the Medical Director related to his/her responsibilities in the respiratory department. In the absence of the Technical Director, the Clinical Operations Manager is responsible for the operations of the Respiratory Therapy department. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Monitor state and federal regulations and those of other regulatory and accrediting agencies pertaining to departmental functions. Serves as a role model to staff. Participate in the development and implementation of care models that are patient and family centered, evidence based, and encourage professional practice of staff that results in high quality and cost-effective care outcomes. Responsible for the performance management of employees based on standards of practice and care as well as Respiratory Care Services and WPH policies and procedures. Interact with staff in a consistent, fair, timely, appropriate, and decisive manner. Plan and conduct formal performance reviews that are timely, ongoing, and objective and submit necessary documentation timely. Active participant in self-professional development by using internal or external resources. Promote the growth and development of staff by identifying strengths and opportunities, and by setting goals, and providing opportunities for formal and informal learning as well as ongoing coaching and feedback. Maintain credibility and visibility with respiratory care team and other members of the care team. Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of protocols, policies and procedures, and standard of care guidelines. In collaboration with the Technical Director, The Manager is responsible for developing, reviewing, and revising clinical and technical competencies. Expected to be present during all regulatory inspections, which may include being flexible with own scheduling. In Collaboration with the Technical Director, develops quality indicators for measuring clinical outcomes. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, analyze clinical practice and identify opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency. In Collaboration with the Technical Director, design and support a system that facilitates staff involvement. In Collaboration with the Technical Director, will Interview and make hiring recommendations. Demonstrate clinical knowledge by acting as a clinical resource and role model to staff and to other departments. Identify and collaborate with department leaders to establish clinical learning opportunities for students and staff. In collaboration with RT Educator and Technical Director, oversees the education and orientation processes for Respiratory Care employees. Manages time and attendance of all employees using the Kronos time keeping system. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Education Experience RequirementsMust be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program approved program for Respiratory Therapy Masters Degree strongly preferred. Must hold a current and valid New York State Respiratory Therapy license. Must be credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) BLS certification (through American Heart Association) required. ACLS, NRP and PALS certification (through American Heart Association) required or must have within 3 months of hire. Neonatal Pediatric Specialty (NPS) Credential preferred. CPFT, preferred. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of management skills Previous management/leadership experience preferred Minimum 5 years recent acute care respiratory therapy experience.
