Manager-Research Contracts

Shared Services: Industrial Relations (Full-Time, Day Shift) -

Job Summary: The Manager-Research Contracts drafts and negotiates agreements and subcontracts in accordance with LLUH and sponsor policies.

Supervises personnel and oversees all functions and activities related to agreements. Interacts with sponsors, academic institutions, federal agencies and investigators to ensure the investigator and the institution are able to meet obligations and are in agreement with the final terms. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: Master's Degree in related field required. Minimum five years of experience in managing agreements in an academic, commercial or related environment required.

Knowledge and Skills: Sophisticated understanding of complex intellectual property and licensing issues and a thorough knowledge of patent law.

Knowledge of intellectual property, indemnification, insurance, publication policies, care and treatment of laboratory animals, protection of human subjects, accounting principles etc. Must have a working knowledge of legal aspects of contracting and the ability to understand contract language and the ability to effectively negotiate contract language and terms. Extensive knowledge of US federal statues and government regulations (NIH, IRS, FDA) pertaining to the development and commercialization of technology, particularly in the context of federally funded research.

Extensive knowledge of all aspects of technology. Able to effectively manage and direct staff. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position.

Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications: Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
