As a leading Global Investment Consulting firm, Mercer Investment Consulting is seeking a junior Manager Research Analyst for our expanding global research group. The Global Research team has responsibility for manager research and works closely with consulting teams located around the world.

To fulfill this role, the research analyst will:

  • Support lead manager researchers in undertaking due diligence on investment management firms and their strategies, primarily with respect to equity strategies

  • Support lead manager researchers in making recommendations to the firm's investment consultants as to the capability and suitability of the strategies for institutional clients

  • Assist in preparing written reports covering research and opinions resulting from meetings with investment managers

  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of a manager's investment strategy and philosophy, portfolio management capabilities, and ability to implement investment ideas

  • Assist researchers consultants during manager searches, including preparing comparative analysis on manager candidates

  • Work on asset class or strategy specific research projects


  • Working towards CFA, CFA candidate or equivalent experience

  • Strong English language (written and oral) skills are essential

  • Experience in the institutional investment management or consulting industries is helpful

  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities with attention to detail, and excellent writing and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize work and function independently

  • Good business acumen to understand the research needs of consultants and respond accordingly

  • Ability to travel regularly as required to meet with managers and consultants

You will ultimately serve as an asset class specialist, conducting research of investment managers in your assigned space to identify best in breed investment options for our clients' portfolios. You will also serve as a subject matter expert in your area of coverage, contributing to research papers, client interactions, and serving as a resource to the entire firm. You will be tasked with understanding your assigned investment managers thoroughly, as well as providing valuable insights to internal and external clients in regards to these investment managers. Additionally, you will be asked to lead the work of others to achieve team and business goals. In this role you will also be required to effectively articulate Wilshire's manager process and competitive advantage to prospects and clients. Wilshire's Consulting division, established in 1981, is well known and respected for providing investment consulting services to large pension funds, endowments, foundations and insurance companies. What you'll do: * Conduct asset class specific research on investment strategies. Provide ongoing qualitative and quantitative analysis of equity managers and their commingled fund offerings, as well as mutual funds where applicable. * Source new ideas, meet with portfolio managers and other investment professionals, document meetings, provide written research opinions and evaluations, and delivering recommendations and analysis to consultants, portfolios managers, and clients. * Production of all collateral and deliverables associated with assigned investment managers, including, but not limited to, manager meeting notes, evaluations, and ad hoc analysis. * Represent the firm to the external investment community in a professional manner during conference calls, in-person meetings, and on-site visits. * Interact with Wilshire colleagues firm-wide in servicing clients' needs. Participate and contribute in client and prospect meetings as needed. * Support Wilshire's quarterly reporting and monitoring process. * Serve as subject matter expert in assigned asset class. * Lead and execute ad hoc manager research related projects. * Collaborate with other members of the investment team and contribute to investment decisions made in client portfolios. * Mentor junior team members. What you have: * Bachelor's Degree * Strong verbal and written communication skills.
